Fiat 500 electric, a Volvo XC60 that seemed to be electric (very quiet, no exhaust pipes), a Polestar 2

What I thought was electric, an E-C4 badged thing that turned out to be a 1600 HDi and untaxed since last October.

And a Renault Wind that I mistook for a Zoe initially.

Another Polestar, or perhaps the same one, yesterdays was driving up the street, presumably to the school as it was that time, this was in a car park five miles away, moving silently and too rapidly for a picture.
A Tesla (Y)?

A Tesla S.
Fortunately he spotted me first. I was clearing a bit of ground outside and fell backwards into the road.
Tesla was creeping up silently behind me but stopped before squishing me.

Shiny 23 Reg Tesla Model Y. Double ZZ plate appropriately enough for the 31st May 2023, and May's most active thread on the FCF.

Comments invited, am I right in thinking this is probably a 24Kw battery model giving a range around the 80-100 mark, is it good value?

See the dealer is in Darlington.

The listings don’t tend to cover the vital statistics of a second hand electric car. It will be a 24 kWh battery, it has a black interior, so a Sunderland built model, It is most likely to have a heat pump, a considerable improvement in efficiency. The battery chemistry was improved at some point, whether or not this came with the 2014 reg model not sure. I would expect the battery to have 12 or 11 bars showing, although it’s 9 years old now, and capacity deteriorates with both age and numbers of charge discharge cycles.

Many leafs have already proved themselves in over 100,000 Miles category, mine has 65,000 and 11 bars.

It’s probably not had too hard a life, and not a great number of charge discharge cycles doing 4000ish Miles a year. I have never used any of the connectivity services of Nissan, and the last time it entered the main dealers was when I bought it. The nav screens etc are all better done by a smartphone, and my right hand side of the touchscreen not working. Hasn’t effected me, but might be annoying to others. Best to check out the functionality of that.

There will not be too much depreciation from the £6995, breaking an end of life car for parts and batteries is going to keep ultimate residual values in the thousands in any case.

Charge at home, for most of your needs still has a half price advantage over petrol, and none of those dirty oil changes, or exhaust replacements.

The other thing to check out is whether the on board charger is the 6.6 kW rated one. If not the lower rate on board charger will take much longer to charge up the battery.
