2016 berlingo alarm going off for no reason

Unread post by Downsgrinder »

Hi all first post in the forum and probably something that's been touched on before.

2016 berlingo alarm going off for no reason at random times...what I've done so far to try eliminate the issue...bonnet catch re lubed, connector for the bonnet sensor taken off and connection cleaned...new main battery installed and new key fob remote battery fitted...checked for any spiders in the van, and also tried disarming the ultra sonics on the dash board by the parking sensor disarm button.

Can anyone shed anymore light on what the issue could be?

Could I get away with just using the key to unlock and lock by the door of the vehicle and the alarm will disarm so it doesn't go off randomly?.

The issue will most likely be with the actual alarm module itself. The module has an internal battery and these lose capacity to hold a charge over time. When they start to fail, it's like the power supply being cut and sends the alarm off.

So I'd be looking at replacing the module and that should solve your issues. I've done a few of these on different vehicles and the problem was resolved.

Cheers for the reply...is that a part I need to buy directly from citroen? Also can I take it to any run of the mill mechanic or does it need to go to a specialist?

Is the module located under the wipers and is it a simple like for like swap?

I doubt you will get the alarm siren new anywhere else apart from the dealer. Its a straightforward plug & play job & doesn't need anything special to replace it, just a little bit akward to get at (for obvious reasons).
Be aware though a new siren is over £200 from the dealer.
If you lock the van with the keyblade in the lock the alarm will not be armed.

Would I not get get away with replacing the module Box or would it need to be the siren?...I've no issues for now just locking it off the door handle itself just along as it bloody stops doing it at 3am till it gets sorted.

It's an integrated unit. So just lock with the key to disable.

There is an ECU for the alarm located inside the vehicle (this is even more expensive that the siren) but its the siren under the bonnet that had the integrated back up battery.

Sorry for dredging up an old thread - but I've got exactly the same van and issue.

Did you manage to resolve this?

Does anyone have a diagram for the location of this module so I can find / locate it in my van?
