It occurs to me that this price increase based on charging speed is a bit of a con. Surely generating energy costs the same per kW no matter how fast you consume it? So basically they are charging people for the time they save by using faster chargers on the basis that many people will be prepared to pay more for the same thing if it happens to be more convenient!! :-D

Tesco and Pod Point have now announced that the price of charging up will rise again from Monday April 3, with the 7kW chargers now costing 44p/kWh (up from 40p/kWh). The faster 22kW chargers will cost 49p/kWh, with 50kW units priced at 62p/kWh (up from 50p/kWh).

Further info here
Just put that up on the infrastructure thread Mick...sorry I was a bit slow responding!

You could argue the infrastructure for the faster chargers costs more to provide, install and maintain.

More likely, now that 'lekky cars are becoming more and more a common sight on our roads, those of a greedy disposition are beginning to view them as cash cows and milking them.

I'm sure, as the electric car population grows, the milking will increase rapidly. We've all seen it happen before in all sorts of arenas.

I'm not really cynical ;)

You've got to laugh...

A Scottish Gas van at the local rapid charger - emblazoned with words to the effect of 'clean transport coming to fix your gas boiler' Except it wasn't because it was stuck at the charger :?

Dozens of them, mainly Teslas of all types. Some Audi, BMW and VWs too.

No MGs or Polestars.

On the way to Middlesbrough and back.
