The provenance of that picture and much of the contents within have been endlessly debated on Facebook many times Mick ;)

Many believe it's a photoshop. I agree, car post '72 and quite care-worn so late 70s or early 80s. Maybe even later...

Then the background and fashions being worn by the girls and the toys they are playing with don't quite fit... And the general absence of other parked cars. Much more 60s and quite early 60s at that...
Has anyone considered the TV aerials on the houses on the left Jim? They do mainly seem to be of the Yagi type brought in with 625 line broadcasting as opposed to the good old dipoles which would be more prevalent in the 50's early 60's. If I remember correctly 625 originated with BBC2 in 64 but didn't really expand to the point of every house until 68/69 -75. Also the girl nearest the camera appears to be wearing tracksuit style trousers which I think only came around after the mini skirt so pointing to late 60's onwards. The pram appears to be of the 'cot on a base' variety which evolved with the emergence of buggies from the more traditional pushchair and Silver Cross traditional pram!! Just saying! :-D

Good point with the aerials Mick. Although very blurry they do indeed look like UHF 625 line ones. And with no Band I/III 405 aerials in view that would date it quite a lot later. BBC2 on 625 lines was from 1964 but BBC1 and ITV did not generally follow until much later. Even in the mid/mid 70s there was still a lot of 405 aerials about so..

Well observed sir!

Now you can see why this picture arouses so much discussion on Facebook ;)

Hard to tell but I reckon the girl is 👍

That's another pointer to perhaps it's not been extensively photoshopped. The lack of lots of parked cars remains an anomaly though if the pictute is indeed wholly late 70s/early 80s...

This is getting good 😊

Can I just say it doesn't have the "feel" of having been Photoshopped.

I fear we'll never know Paul. The subject always ends up open-ended on Facebook.

All I can say is new information has come to light in this thread thst's not been previously raised on Facebook...

A good illustration of how our brains work in interpreting such a picture...

On Facebook, there's an awful lot of photoshopped stuff about and often very skillfully done. Especially when the original subject is quite fuzzy and lacking in fine detail.

To my eye, the car is fairly well defined and sharper in general than the items around it and in the background.

That seems a little odd as on a sunny day the depth of field, even on a cheap camera, should have allowed the background to be a bit sharper...

As I say, this is interesting...

Clutch slave cylinder perhaps?

Not Photoshop but it is possible to manipulate silver images in the darkroom. More difficult and very time consuming but a distinct possibility.

Ah, hair. I remember you.
Once a year. You are lucky. Engine or gearbox box work was almost monthly when I was chasing the Scottish Autotest Championship in "oor" Morris Mini and, just prior to that, "ORS" was LOML's driver to work so I had to get her her own car - a 105E van wouldn't cut it.

I remember when I had hair and beard like that. It wasn't yesterday.

Fraid Not! That is our son Paul. He went to his first Granite City Rally in his carry cot at 3 weeks old.

He and his sister both had heavy duty 4 point "kiddies seats" in the back of OORS, to match the 4 point ones me and LOML used when we did navigational night rallies.

Excellent! And there was I thinking we did well to take Sian, our youngest, out for a weekend in our touring caravan at 6 weeks old...

Did Paul become very involved in rallying in later life after being introduced to it so young?

Sian never got very enthusiastic about touring caravans despite spending much of her young childhood in one... They may have been her formative years but no love of camping formed in her...
