Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Oh gosh, that's lethal
I encountered similar yesterday whilst out on my bike ride - a very long-standing water main leak in a village that's been keeping the road wet for at least 8 years to my certain knowledge and I can easily think of three more, one even more long-standing.
They all freeze over on days like these and turn the road into a skating rink. Horrendously dangerous to bikes, powered or otherwise
The response to your issue Mick has been nothing short of disgraceful and the responsible authorities should hang their heads in shame. Sadly, it's how things seem to be nowadays. No pride and no care... Let's get away with the absolute minimum possible seems to be the attitude. Sad and disgusting.
Gully cleaning is a rare happening these days.

The Bury Field parkrun course when I ran it to decide if it was a go for parkrun today...
This was between 0730 and 0740... We decided it was good to go and then the sun came out to make it a gorgeous day...
This was Linford Wood later on where I did parkrun timekeeping after completing my work at Bury Field
I then walked around there with my granddaughter and her mum and dad before having a coffee with them in the local cafe...
A perfect morning

I trust you are recovering well from the mishap the other day Peter, the financial side is resolved and the generator is a good one...
I'd say, from your adventures, our energy levels are pretty much similar
Off to race at Mallory Park today, on both foot and bike... My first duathlon of the year

Thanks Jim. The energy levels aren't really there voluntarily I have to force them.
Have a good day - well you have probably had most of it already.

I think Archie was a bit cold or not quite awake...
He came good later and remained proudly erect for the rest of the day

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
On the general subject of domestic heating..
My neighbour's attic mounted (as is mine) gas combi has been venting from its overpressure/safety valve for around three weeks now and has created this impressive icicle all down the wall...
How the boiler is still working is a mystery to me... It must be as they have a young family.
As it was installed by the same engineers as mine at around the same time I expect it's the same one I have. A Glowworm...
Must be a bloody good and bullet-proof boiler...
Been keeping an eye on mine but it's not suffering this affliction...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
My old one, replaced 2021, was doing the same. Pressure vessel collapsed.
Had to fill it up every day. As it heated up it would chuck water out then as it cooled the pressure would drop to zero and stop the boiler lighting.
French boiler, Chaffoteaux & Maury.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I'm guessing he keeps repressurising on a daily basis if its losing that much. After our current boiler had been in for 5ish years it started venting from the expansion chamber within the boiler and losing sufficient water to warrant a weekly top up.CitroJim wrote: 25 Jan 2023, 14:31 On the general subject of domestic heating..

The main problem is simply that the integrated relief vessel was simply too small to cope with the volume of our system so I installed an auxiliary pressure vessel below the boiler and now it only needs a slight top up every 9 months or so. Much more efficient as the new vessel can easily cope with the systems total expansion!!
Apologies for the poor focus but they show what I'm talking about!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

My neighbour must be up and down his loft ladder like the underwear of a practitioner of the oldest profession
My system has no expansion vessel Mick, save the little one in the boiler, and like you, it's a rare event that I need to top mine up. Every six months or so...
Speaking of which, I'm just about to check it... It's been a few weeks...
