Were those anything like Wago connectors?
Yes, that's it Steve :) Think of a giant three-way Wago screwed to the bench and you're not far off...

This is a typical one although there were many variants on the theme... They're still readily available today...

Much as I expected but have seen similar on Big Clive's Hopi.

This was the Wago interview.

I've still got one of those 'sefeblocks' Jim only its not screwed to the bench now. We used to make a lot of temporary connections by pushing the wires into a 5 amp socket and then pushing a 'Clix' plug in on top on them.

 I'm historically guilty of that too Peter, on many occasions :) I also confess to the use of matchsticks in 13A sockets after using a screwdriver to open the shutters

I see I've just passed 45015 posts on this very forum :)

Last evening I watched a documentary on YT about the British Rail 'Peak' locomotives - Classes 44, 45 and 46.

Locomotive 45015 has, over the the years, become a bit of a social media celebrity due to the never ending rumours of its imminent restoration and return to the mainline whilst all the while it rots away further and further into oblivion...

Discussion of this locomotive and its fate often leads to very heated and frank exchanges of views to the extent that moderation becomes required...

If every post on the subject of this locomotive could be converted into a pound coin it would now be the most immaculate preserved locomotive ever! It would have had millions to spend on its restoration...

Many groups now ban any discussion of 45015 on social media...

Its a shame to see it Jim but unfortunately there are a lot of unused and unloved locomotives about and they cost a fortune to restore. Could you not take up a paper round?

We have this in the village but I'm not sure if it's still operating.

Very much so Eric... The Flour Mill is both busy and a well-respected preserved railway engineering works... It's amazing what they can do down there deep in the woods :D Quite an industry has grown up around preserved railways in order to support them... They are by no means the only one...

Peter
Indeed, and in these harsh economic times where many preserved railways are really feeling the pinch, the number is growing almost by the day. As steam locomotive ten-year boiler tickets expire that often marks the occasion where they are shunted off to a distant siding, maybe for the rest of time. None however, have achieved quite the infamy and celebrity status of 45015 though... Quite why this one has been singled out for such special attention is a mystery... It's not a famous one and there was nothing really remarkable about the Class 45s. Several others have been preserved in running order so it's not even unique...

Paper round? I'm retired - wherever would I find the time?

I wish to make it clear I was not the one dressed in a pink top with loud tights

This was me :)

I met Jim for lunch today which gave us the chance to introduce Bluebell and Tiffany, the C4 Picasso on my maintenance fleet.:

While we were having our lunch the Picasso fairies got to work on Bluebell's door trim which definitely improves the presentation. :-D

After leaving an entertaining and tasty lunch I had to go up the M1 to collect some auction purchases from the weekend. I was astounded when I found myself in the middle of a blizzard which was very much passing across the motorway. The dash cam yielded a not good but recognisable picture:

I've just got home from a chaotic day with the maintenance fleet. Noticed that we are missing a picture for today so here is my only click during the day:

Just for fun, anyone know what vehicle that battery belongs to? A couple of clues, we visited four battery suppliers and none had it in stock, our usual failsafe man couldn't even order one!! Had it been available it would have been £205.75 8-[ but there was no stock for him to order. I have now found it online for £125 so hopefully we will be able to get one there!! :-D

Like the difference with the friction drive and hub dynamos the latter used a great deal less human power, apart from not wearing your tyre out. I remember the cyclemasters lots of them about where we lived.
