Daffodil, my erstwhile while AX, always wore a special sticker on her rear offside window...

Alasdair may have originally put it there...

I was utterly delighted when my lovely neighbours presented me with an identical one for Bluebell. They thought it only right she should have one too...

An entry for the cute competition - unfortunately my grand daughter has had to go to Bristol Children's hospital for an urgent operation. She is suffering from polyuric stenosis and needs an operation to free up her intestine!! Apparently it is a fairly common condition and hence a pretty routine procedure! So she lays waiting in a cot at the moment:

I was heading home from Reading town centre, when I spotted this having a swim in the Kennet.

I can remember when it was quite unusual to see a cormorant, but these days they seem a little more abundant.

Just the opposite, there were always several in the Esk but I haven't seen one for decades.

Is anyone noticing how many Kites are around recently? Got loads flying low level in Hertfordshire.

I can remember seeing my first one on the South Downs about 20 years ago - there was only one pair known about in that area at the time and it didn't pay to advertise the fact :( Now they're nearly as common as pigeons

Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun...

and also a great time for capturing the Autumn colours for POTD, contribute if you can. Brochure shots of your vehicle next to a horse chestnut tree that type of thing!

In the meantime my harvesting of feral apples continues apace, and a good winter's supply has already been gathered when passing from numerous locations in Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.
With such a glut of feral apples time to ditch the Quaker "Oh so Simple" for a bog-standard bag of Morissons Porridge Oats and slice up the genuine apple article and add it to the pan.
