Did you notice the hockey pitch at the Commonwealth Games, it was soaking wet, spray going up with every hit. :?:
They must purposely water it to the extreme.

I saw a mildly alarming statistic the other day - roughly between 1/5 & 1/4 of all drinking water is lost to leaks. To be fair, this isn't all down to the water companies though, a small amount of that will be what's lost in the domestic environment with dripping taps, dripping cisterns etc.

My first entry into digital photography was with an Intel Camera which looked very much like a toy camera, but which for about 5 years provided a bit of point and shoot photoing, including our one and only trip to Canada and the USA, and these 2005 pics of the Canadian side of the Falls.

When I bought my current house every tap was dripping, tried to turn off the stop tap under the sink, nope, out to the roadside stop tap, nope. Called Severn Trent and had a man digging the roadside tap out and replacing it the very next morning. :)
My other experiences with STW are: the sewer for the seven houses in the close passes under the front gardens, No 4 had a blockage they came out and put a camera through from the manhole in my drive, said the was a collapse under my garden, the original builder had used some sort of compound piping instead of the usual stuff, next day I had a team here with some fibreglass stuff they fed through and then inflated like a car innertube. and left to set overnight, all sorted.

The next one, I had my drive re-laid with tarmac, the manhole stood proud of the new surface by almost three inches, called STW again, next day a couple of men were here to fix it, no charge because it's a communal sewer.

I wonder if their water is recycled Mick, I know when I investigated the rules for a car wash it was stipulated that all the water was to be captured and recycled, maybe that sprinkler is connected directly to the gents toilets around the stadium. :)

Actually now that I think of it you might be right Gibbo, I remember building the Ricoh Arena for Coventry City FC and there was a recycling system

Picture (s) of the day is more about seeing the picture and capturing the moment than getting stuff in pedantic focus.

A couple of my cameras and especially the phone sneers at pedantic focus and pretend that they don't know what it is.

Worse, I have taken some shots and they weren't even saved. Like my granddaughter and grandson's C1s together. Shame their younger sisters wasn't parked alongside but ultimately it wouldn't have mattered as there was nothing there when I got home. One of the drawbacks with digital cameras where composition is on a screen that is obliterated by daylight.
