So no photos at all of our flight to Stapleford Abbotts for lunch and return journey routing along a couple of miles north of the M25. So, in the biggest cheat on the thread, here is an internet picture of our first waypoint that I should have been able to take myself, Stokenchurch Tower!!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Had a bit of an anticlimactic day due to an odd occurrence with my phone. Left home this morning to go flying with Bob and get a few aerial shots of our route. My phone was on charge all night and showed 100% battery when I left home. By the time I had met Bob I had been using it a fair bit but not enough to flatten the battery I wouldn't have thought!! However that is exactly what happened because as soon as I turned the video on at White Waltham for a quick film of the pre flight checks the dreaded 'dong' went and the phone turned itself off!!

Have you given it a name yet, seeing as you're giving it free board and lodging.myglaren wrote: 25 Mar 2022, 22:27 Still here. It just climbed up the amp and scanner but they are black so it was almost invisible.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I have the adoption papers ready to submit, so it will be a family member and live here free of charge.
Doesn't have expensive tastes, fortunately.
It is sitting on the scanner just now.
Hard to focus on it, or even see it as it is so black.
Clearer here than it actually is.

There was an interesting short story written about Gibbo's C5, only 13 pages long, so a coffee table browse should suffice, e-book available here "On My Walk" https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... hp?t=57880

Kipp Apparat

Yesterday down the coast at Howick every so often there was that distinctive smell of H2S.
The lab preparation from old school Chemistry Lessons in the fume cupboard using the old Kipps apparatus was done using
H2SO4 + FeS = FeSO4 + H2S
The natural formula down the beach from the piles rotting seaweed would be something like
Damp Seaweed plus bacteria and algae plus a couple of days of unseasonally warm weather=distinct and powerful whiffs of rotten eggs.
Regards Neil

I had a mate who, if you complained about a smell would say "Your nose is too near your ass."NewcastleFalcon wrote: 27 Mar 2022, 09:56Yesterday down the coast at Howick every so often there was that distinctive smell of H2S.

That apparatus is just a posh bong.
May be unwise to smoke seaweed in it.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
So I was a PC technician / System administrator until 2 years ago. This is the book that started it all. I was handed to me by an american guy that I met at a small local convention back in 2000 or 2001 and it changed my world. And yes, I speak English (to some extend) since I was in the 5th grade. I gave this book to my little cousin a while ago and yesterday he gave it back to me as he is moving to UK. Just to put things in context, the price of this book in Romania at the time was equivalent to my father's monthly wage at that time.
