C1 MirrorLink Android Auto

Unread post by IAFYM »

Hi everyone,

I hope I could maybe get some help on this? I bought a used 2015 C1 which had issues with the USB and have had the head unit replaced under warrenty and now the USB is working. I can plug in a USB stick and it finds the music on it and it will now charge a phone from the port.

In the manual it says that it supports MirrorLink and AppleCar but doesn't implicitly say that it does for Android Auto (even though, I think it uses the same protocol as MirrorLink?). I saw on youtube a video from Citroen saying that the C1 7" screen does support it but maybe thats because its newer? I've tried plugging my phone into the port and pressing the connect button on the screen but after showing the trying to connect screen nothing happens after that.

Does the car support Android Auto or would it only be AppleCar? If it does support both, how do I actually get it to work?

Thanks for any help.

1) Use a genuine USB cable. Cheap cables often do not work - I've seen it happen loads of times.
2) Make sure you have gone into the CONFIGURATION menu and select CONNECTION icon and make sure that Android Auto is enabled.
3) Make sure you phone is up to date with the latest Operating System.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, I've tried the original cable and several ones and I just can't get it to work. Does the car even work with android phones? I know in the manual it says iPhones work and phones with mirrorlink. I've got a google pixel phone which I've found out that it has android auto but doesn't support mirrorlink (I'm not sure if the car needs both android auto and mirrorlink for it to work, as the android auto works in other cars I've tried the phone in).

I'm not sure if I should buy a cheap second hard iphone or another android phone which the mirrorlink website says supports it? I don't want to waste my money if an android phone will never work in the car.

Pop up your VIN for the car and I’ll check the original specification

Hi thanks for you reply.

I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I've just had a new (original) head unit put in under warranty as the last was faulty.

Here is my vin number

Ok, so This is a February 2015 build and does not support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, sorry.

The older Mirror link function says it is available, but you need to download the "AppinCar" app to your smart phone first, then follow the instruction in the owner handbook to connect.

Ok, thanks for confirming.

If the AppinCar thing works fine then I guess I'll be ok with that... I'll have to buy a cheap iPhone as I don't think it's available on Android. I just wanted a satnav thing really.

No, that won't work. Mirror link is for android phones no iPhones. You can use media players via the AUX or USB port, but if I were you, I'd just try plugging in a flash drive with your MP3 files on and play from there - a lot less hassle.

There is very little Citroen about these vehicles, they are basically a Toyota Aygo, the same for the Peugeot 108. Therefore the Head units are all Toyota based and really poor to be honest. They did have an option module for sat NAV but that would of been a factory option.
