At random I have selected 1971 as the year for the nostalgic March 1st lookback to what was in the top 40 singles for the week including 1st March.
I guarantee only a miniscule amount of effort is required to have a look at the chart and select a song to join in with the first day thread, this 1st March 2022.
There are a number of excellent tracks in that Top 40 and I found it difficult to pick my favourite. So in the end I have picked two which I cannot choose between for my own selfish personal reasons. So my selections are Your Song from Elton John and My Way from Frank Sinatra!! Make of that what you will!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Absolutely from top to bottom. T. Rex with a couple, Atomic Rooster, Deep Purple, the number one by Mungo Jerry is a belting song which at the time was great, super live performance on some of the youtube vids, but cant get past the lyrics now. The one by CCS "Walking'" is also a force of nature. First one I chose to listen to was Ashton Gardner and Dyke though so here it is...

Just been watching Middlesbro knock Spurs out of the cup!! Loved it.
As for the trivia question would that be the 1,000,000th post on Wikipedia?
Yes that's correct on the trivia question, and it was great to see the youngster's joy as he scored the winning goal and he fairly lashed it into the net. Great night for the supporters.
The first day is upon us again. New month first day original pictures, new month calendar pages etc etc but an original image done/taken this very day. Thread expires at the end of today.
The calendars at Chez Falcon have been turned over

Also of course a random nostalgic look back at the official British Singles chart for March the first, with the cut off period of 1960 to 2022.
So using old faithful random.org came up with 2014...not sure its going to be a vintage crop, but that's what has been selected.
Just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading through that chart. I only recognised 3 artists, Gary Barlow, James Blunt and a girl whose name I've already forgotten again and not a single track so I'll give choosing a favourite track from that list a miss!! So my favourite track from 2014 was probably Silverstone!!

If you have a scan down that 2014 chart, perhaps its a little too easy to dismiss, as not being in your comfort zone era.
There is at least one piece of music on that chart which can stir the emotions. It was composed by Christina Perri and David Hodges in at number 80 on the chart in the week of 1st April 2014 after spending 77 weeks on the chart.
I have put an instrumental cover of it on the PE Jukebox, itself with 203 million views. Check out Christina's original with the words but be prepared to dab a tear from your eye.
I did better than scan, I read every entry and on rechecking still no change!! I played the video on the jukebox and I'm afraid that didn't do it for me either!! I agree about the cello being an emotional instrument, even melancholic, but it just doesn't have any effect on me apart from wanting to turn it off!!
