Capital cities quiz, takes a few goes to get 12/12.

You have to juggle with the fact that for each round you have to select "the weakest link" from the remaining capitals.
In the first round category "Population" where all 12 capital cities are in the game, the correct answer requires the capital with the least population to be selected (ie "the weakest link").

That one was tricky with Paris and LOndon still being in the running not to do eiffel tower/ shard guess, when what was required was the city with the lowest tallest building. :-D

Well done, I was on many many more attempts than your 6! :-D

Of course it was, that's how I blew two attempts on Rome and Vienna. I knew it wasn't London, Paris or Madrid and guessed in the wrong order!! :-D

Amusing quiz though once you grasp that you are looking for the "wrong" answer!! :-D

Wordle in 3 today.

Not a very often used 5 letter word, unless you are a professional painter and decorator.

New web address for the game...NY times properly taken it over.

Today's Worldle

Its geography not words, got it in one today, almost talked myself out of it the 2 bits looked too far apart.

Have a go, an easy start for Mick, there will be enough knowledge in the household to get it in one too.

I.m a bit bemused by how they calculate the distances from your guess to the target. My first guess today gave me 2000+km to the NW. After two more guesses I got there only to discover that the target country's southern border is with my first guess!! Are the distances geographical centre to centre? If so then I would argue that NW was wrong, should have been N :?:

My first guess was, dont laugh, Spain.

The arrows indicate the direction of the answer country from your guess. So it gave me the information that the actual country was 6,615 km from Spain in a South West ish Direction. I did it top of the head rather than use a map which is why I didnt get it due to lack of knowledge of the countries in that general area.

My guess is that the distances are crow flies between the closest together points from Country1 to Country2, but its just a general guide.

What was your first guess? Did you get it?

Picking up on your comment about not being too sure of the countries in that area I started with Brazil, go NW it said 2k+km, i tried Mexico although I knew it wasn't the right shape just to get a cross reference. 5k+km SW it said. Hmmmm!! Tried for a third bearing with Panama and got 3k due east. Decided it was one of the Guyanas and plumped for the middle one, British as it was, Suriname as it is now and bingo!! But don't agree with the directions given!! :-D
