Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
I have also done a speed awareness course a couple of years ago. I did learn quite a bit, and I also showed that I have actually got a working brain (I was getting quite a lot of the answers right, so I think one of the instructors set me up for a fall with a very tricky question. While my answer was not right it was a LOT closer than others that were called out by other 'sinners'). Make sure you are paying attention, as if the instructors feel you are not they can ask you to leave, you don't get a refund and you still get hit by the points and fine (that happened to two people on the course I was on; one claimed narcolepsy which was probably rubbish, as I doubt a sufferer would be allowed to drive!).

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
Take the course, it will then not need to be declared at the Insurance Renewal, mine was for a red light offenceGibbo2286 wrote: 10 Nov 2021, 11:09
Got the letter this morning offering me the choice of points and fixed penalty or the speed awareness course, anybody done one?

I almost got lucky whilst I was there with a ladette .... so it was almost worth the money

I've told the Mrs it wasn't that kind of 'redlight' offence so she let me go on the course

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
There seems to be mixed experiences with the courses.
For those who feel they have learned something, I have been watching Ashey Neal's videos recently and while I don't necessarily agree with everything he says and he can sound a bit preachy at times, there is quite a wealth of good advice based on actual events.
One I watched yesterday:-

Signed up for the online course but it's not until January, booked for the 6th cost £85.
If I'd been just 2 mph slower I would have got away with it.

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
Fully charged used to be a bit of a go to site for whats new in EV's. This is awful. Its not even worth a proper embedding. Its supposed to be about the Dacia Spring.

Will it be coming to the UK...as far as I know this is the latest

This page about the UK's cheapest EVs came up on Autoexpress this morning. Throw the Ami and the Wuhling into this mix!
1. Dacia need to ponder whether they can make a right-hand drive version for the UK market. They want to assess what the demand is, and they are going to take 3-6 months to make their minds up. Little bit of advice Dacia...only readers of the FCF have ever heard of the Dacia Spring in the UK but, if the masses knew a reasonably priced EV was to be offered in the UK for under £15,000, it would rapidly become over subscribed and not just with the EV savvy. Small cars sell in the UK the Dacia Spring would work. The Dacia Spring is currently the best selling EV in Italy, cheap enough and good enough, and the UK are well used to the Dacia brand.
2. They will probably have to ask their parent (Renault) if they can bring it to the UK, and how many they will be allowed to produce for the UK market. Th only thing stopping the Dacia Spring being a top-seller in many markets would be the deliberate choking back of production á la VW and the Skoda e-Citigo.
Autocar have a piece on it under a less than definite headline of...

Re: Electric Cars:what's available?
I've been driving since 1990 - not as long as GibboNewcastleFalcon wrote: 03 Nov 2021, 10:43 Thats so annoying, and so easily done, everyone who drives now must have had a speeding ticket at one time or another. Indeed quite an achievement for yourself to have held out for so long.![]()

While I haven't had a speeding ticket I have been dinged by Glasgow bus lanes more than once where I've been unaware (dark, raining, missed the hard to see warning sign etc) that I've turned into a road which is buses and taxi only, as soon as you realise the mistake its too late to change course and get out of trouble! It was the bus lane thing you were worrying about too. Do you get the option for a speed awareness course, points on the licence always seem like blemish on your record which you just dont want, particularly with a long clean licence motoring life.?

Nissan expanding their range substantially.
Spotted the announcement on the Beeb earlier but it seems to have fallen off now.

Ironic his driver education channel features him filming himself and glancing over at the camera when driving on the motorway.

It's mentioned on the comments that he was on a slip road leaving the motorway as the lorry was "passed"....mickthemaverick wrote: 05 Dec 2021, 13:37Not to mention undertaking a lorry on the dual carriageway!!NewcastleFalcon wrote: 05 Dec 2021, 13:15Ironic his driver education channel features him filming himself and glancing over at the camera when driving on the motorway.
