My car is 2009 C5 X7 with RT4 navigation system. I now have an opportunity to buy a RT5 radio without the navi display (which I already have in my car).
Does it work ok with the old display? Is the display part number actually the same with both nav systems?
Thanks!

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
As far as I can tell the low resolution screen you have should still work with the RT5.

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
So, the resolution is lower with RT4? Is the difference very radical?
My RT4 radio is broken, this is why I’m asking this.
My choices are
- change the radio to RT5 and use the old display
- just change the radio and buy the whole RT4 package /w display
The price for these is more or less the same. I’m also open if someone is offering me something with reasonable price

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
Yes the RT4 unit can support low and high res output, but of course the screen must support the higher resolution.
Well the higher resolution screens allow more detail of course, but to be honest I wouldn't bother replacing the screen if it works - really no point for navigation maps - and display of the system.
My NG4 Navidrive 3D had a high res screen - but that played DVDs, so was nice to have while watching a movie whilst waiting during shopping trips!

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
Do you know if the wiring is the same for both screens?
The resolution is not important, I use another GPS anyway (TomTom).

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
Should be the same - some of the fakra connections may be reversed though on the RT5 - so make sure you match them up correctly, although these should be colour coordinated.

The various aerials (GPS / FM/AM/ GSM) This type of connector is generally referred to as a FAKRA connector.

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
Got my RT5 finally. It looks like the display is zoomed so that I can only see about a quarter of the whole area. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
Maybe something to do with compatibility or the configuration of the unit? These were never fitted to the X7 as an option just for info....

It shows the temperature ok. It shows the parking sensors ok, but I don’t see the full image
I have a laptop with lexia, but not right here, will be able to use that at weekend. What should I seek from there?

Re: RT4 -> RT5 navigator
Haven't a clue as this unit was not intended for the X7, so there is no specific configuration options for configuring it to the specifics of the C5 X7.

Do you have the map for the menu? I’d like to change the language first to English, it’s now French.
There are four different colour wires. What might each of them do? Maybe the order should be something else

You'll need to press the main menu to get the 'wheel' and select the icon with flags on it. In this menu, look for the language option:
But be aware I have heard other members saying the language option is not there on some systems. This means it needs changing at the ECU level.
