Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Punt 1:
The author of the poem 'Leisure' was William Henry Davies 1871-1940 who was famous for living as a tramp and travelled to the US and roamed around as one before gaining fame as a poet. Thus he could be viewed as a Supertramp.
Now Supertramp group was founded by Roger Hodgson who also wrote the track 'Take the long way home' recorded by Supertramp and used as the music for the Citroen ad.
Thus my connection is Supertramp!!

William Henry Davies lived a varied life, the wiki page has plenty of info on it. One of his other works was
and indeed that was where the group Supertramp got their name from which I didn't know before my random delve. I like Supertramp.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W._H._DaviesThe Autobiography of a Super-Tramp is an autobiography published in 1908 by the Welsh poet and writer W. H. Davies (1871–1940). A large part of the book's subject matter describes the way of life of the tramp in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States in the final decade of the 19th century.

I'll pass on the Ivinghoe Beacon question to save it for those from elsewhere. Can't believe those answers, Yukon????
As for the flag if memory serves me correctly you can get a nice bottle of sauce from the County Town ?

Correct. The Ivinghoe Beacon is easy to look up, I didnt get it top of the head, but I thought it had been referred to on the FCF as well at some point, maybe a question arising out of your quiz book.mickthemaverick wrote: 04 Oct 2021, 22:33 I'll pass on the Ivinghoe Beacon question to save it for those from elsewhere. I was wrong on that too but I think I was a bit closer with the Fosse Way.

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
I had to go and do some shopping this morning so I thought a shot of this building would go down well. Then I realised it could be the subject of a simple quiz. So the questions are: Where is it? What is it used for? What is special about it? (answer to the last part was on the picture until I spilt some paint on it
)

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Well done on 2 out of 3 Neil.
It is where you say and the special bit is on the blue plaque, however I am afraid you are wrong about the use. The answer can be discovered from the picture with a little use of computer manipulation.

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Indeed it does Dormouse, well done. In truth the premises have been empty for a fair time 10+ years in fact since Beckwith ceased trading and I was pleased to see it has now been opened as the gallery. Time will tell if it is successful but as a very special building it is good to be lived in again!!

Re: Pickled Egg Quiz
Interestingly I have just viewed the webpage Neil listed which includes a photo of the building in its setting taken in 2001. I took this picture this morning from a very similar position:
