Never actually been round Whitby, not been able to find anywhere to park. Had thought about getting the train from Pickering but its a bit expensive.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I think I may be repeating myself but back in the 80's when I was working at ICI Wilton I used to pop down through Redcar and on to Whitby for fish and chips at least twice a week!! No problems with parking then, I used to pull up opposite the chippy down by the inlet!!

You could park in Lyme Regis 40 years ago.

But it would be too far to walk to the chippy Peter?

There is a park and ride if you come in on the west side of town.Peter.N. wrote: 29 Aug 2021, 17:40 Never actually been round Whitby, not been able to find anywhere to park. Had thought about getting the train from Pickering but its a bit expensive.

I park at my brothers. Never go into town any more, far too many people there.
The best fish and chips were on Upgang lane on the way out to Sandsend
Owned by my mate's big brother, married to one of my ex-girlfriends.
Long gone, sadly.

Paperboyo does an interesting bit of Art, using paper, scissors, and just the right camera angle.
Since 2015 Rich McCor, who goes by the alias, paperboyo, has travelled the globe with bespoke paper cut-outs and his camera to transform famous, and not so famous, scenery into something new.

The discussion about the Mercedes 190E Cosworth has brought up my latest milestone post so time for a celebratory car. Once we got over the 6 litre point I didn't expect to be able to include many more British cars in my collection, however 6900 has yielded this competition car from the midlands!

I dislike the 'twin towns' concept just an excuse for councillors from each side to swap jollies.

When I was in the scouts we had some contact with the scouts in Whitby, Ontario. Some came for a visit but I never met them, was away at the time.

No doubt what this is, it says so on the tin....useful for when a complimentary sachet is not provided with your purchase of brake pads.

Clearing the attic - sort of - I have found loads of stuff I had forgotten about and some I knew nothing about.
It was an horrendous mess up there, kids firing their junk up and then the solar panel fitters deciding to reverse the plans and 'move' everything - chuck it all over in actuality.
Found our waffle iron, bought in 1974. Must see if it still works.
Also this, along with all the Spectrum bits and bobs.
