but for a wider audience perhaps....this is a rare six wheeler Citroen, and if you want it you can bid for it at Mathewsons Auction 20/21 August. Guide price £7,000 to £8,500.

Fighting through the traffic on the way home I found myself stopped beside this rather innovative display in the dealers showroom!! :)

Gone French again and it even has my initials!

Renault Mégane Cabriolet (tintop).
Actually not mine but youngest daughters, she, her son and my youngest son have taken mine to Wales as it has more room in it than this - surprising as this thing feels much bigger, looks it too.
Will have to get the tape measure out.

I had a day out at Thruxton today for the British Superbikes meeting. I decided to take a video of our view with the phone so I prepared the phone and then hit the go button as the first group came round. You could say I was lucky to get this action shot which I obviously didn't expect but there is at least one man who would not call the incident lucky!! :-D

Mick has put up a couple of links to the Carandclassic auctions on the "classics under £10k thread" always worth a look.

They do a particularly good job on the images.....loads, and loads of them.

This one caught my eye. Number 14 of 153 images of an A30 for sale! First because the paint job is quite garish for an Austin A30, can't think its to everyone's taste, and secondly because I like the composition. The neglected garages, the sitting in a puddle and the reflections. Not your usual selling shot.

I have just had a look through all the 158 pictures of the Talbot Samba I posted on the 'Classic under 10K' thread as Neil referred to above and I have to say a hearty congratulations to them for telling it how it really is!! I'm not sure they have done themselves any favours as regards to the sale price but you will most certainly know what you are bidding for!! I just might be tempted!! :-D

Bugzz!

Greenfly are no strangers - the cherry tree overhanging the garden is rife with them, but this was different.
DSCF3299.JPG
Black flies infesting the poppy seed-heads and being tended by an army of very small ants that live in the wall.

Took photo's in situ but the camera couldn't focus on them, too many distractions for it, and I couldn't see the miserable failures on the screen, too bright.

Had to set it up on a tripod and cut one off that it could focus on - of course the ants didn't hang around for a photo-shoot and buggered off smartly - most of them anyway.

Surprises me how many miniscule spiders and beetles live in the seed heads (I collect all the seeds from the flowers and 'recycle' them).

With my only shutter click of the day being a petrol pump, its random POTD archives delving.

Well Page 316 was selected by random.org so that page turned up a picture of Peter on his scooter embarking on a epic journey to Wolverhampton
Image
and Page 316 was also the start of the story of "Shag" Eckford DFC WW2 pilot.

I can add a further element to that story discovered today. A book "The Inn of the Few" written by the former Landlady of the White Hart Brasted, where "Shag's" name was written on the blackout. The current White Hart on its website makes no mention of its history, and looks like a corporate-it-could-be=anywhere, if nicely presented, sort of place.

– The White Hart (Brasted)
The White Hart pub in Brasted was a favourite ‘watering hole’ during the war for pilots from Biggin Hill. Many fliers deemed The White Hart to be Biggin Hill’s second officers’ mess. The famous blackout panels with pilots’ signatures are now proudly displayed at The Shoreham Battle of Britain Museum. Katherine Preston, the landlady of the White Hart Inn at Brasted, shared her memories of wartime in her book “The Inn of the Few”.

"Shag's" signature on that blackout panel :-D

That area used to be my stomping ground. I remember seeing lots of 'Tiger Moth' trainer planes flying over just after the war.
