Please help with the electronic handbrake

Unread post by depo1902 »

Hello dear owners of French cars!
When trying to free the rear calipers using diagbox 9.68 to replace the rear pads, several bugs popped up, including the C156D62 which does not wear off and the handbrake is no longer tightened.
In this case, the handbrake signs are constantly flashing on the dashboard.
Today I checked the wiring, it is intact without damage.
My car is a 2018 Citroen c4 Grand picasso, 1.6 bluehdi engine with aisin automatic transmission.
Unfortunately, I do not know English and I use google translator, thanks for your understanding.

Might be worth trying to recalibrate the system with diagbox & go through the procedure as if you have replaced the calipers/cables.

Good night, my friend. I have a great friend who has changed the rear pads of a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 2018. And you have the same fault as you, the C157D. Could you tell me if I solve it, and how did you get it? A cordial greeting from Spain.

How do all. I have the same fault C156D62 on a 2018 C4 B78 2018 model 1.6 HDI 120BHP. Tried to recalibrate as if new caliper as above but the calibration cannot be completed due to the active code. The DTC will not clear after the partial calibration. Any help would be greatly received. Using the Topdon topscan tool.

Update to my specific issue. I managed to clear the fault by having the engine running and holding the handbrake switch on for more than 10s with my foot on the brake (normal handbrake application procedure) which then activated the actuators to work normally and then allow me to clear the ABS DTC.

Good afternoon, please ask me a question, I changed the rear brake pads and now I have an electric handbrake failure, it doesn't work, but it always worked perfectly.
I tried to untension the calipers with diagbox before changing the brake pads but it didn't work, but I could change the brake pads without any problem.
The fault I get in diagbox is C156D62.
Can someone please help me.

C156D 62: Electric parking brake (EPB) actuator sensors: Lack of coherence of the signal
Fault Code: C156D 62
Description of Fault:
  • Electric parking brake (FSE) actuator sensors: Lack of coherence of the signal.

    Description of the diagnostics

    Possibility 1
  • The ESP ECU is checking the final status of the motorised brake calipers

    Possibility 2
  • The ESP ECU is checking the final status of the motorised brake calipers in relation to the demands being made on the actuator motors.
  • The fault immediately appears
Conditions for Fault to clear:
  • Operating status of the motorised brake calipers
Downgrade Modes whilst Fault is active:
  • Checking of the motorised brake calipers: Only loose.
  • Electric parking brake: Dynamic application only.
  • Deactivation of the "Stop and Start" function.
  • Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message: "SERVICE" warning lamp and message "FSE faulty".
  • Warning lamp "Auto P Off" and orange warning lamp "(P)!".
Symptoms:
  • Parking brake faults
Suspect Areas:
  • Electrical harnesses
  • Connectors
  • Fuses
  • Service battery
  • ABS/ESP ECU
I suggest you start the vehicle and manually activate the switch to apply the parking brake and hold it applied there for at least 10 seconds to ensure that the EPB applies maximum application of the parking brake.

If this fails then try a BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

Then you'll probably need to get it to a specialist for further examination as to the actual problem. If it was working fine before you undertook the work, then it's likely to be something that has happened as a result of the work.
