The very first car I restored was an early 2str Spartan kit car and painted it maroon with cream interior.

sneaky. the only version with two versions. the later chassis had poor rear diff mounting design which let down the TR6 version. ok with a 4 pot - u s with the power of the straight 6

the 4a started the updated chassis design and the 5 had the gutless 250 version. the pokey injected engine ate diff mounts

I worked with a lad in Sweden with a TR4A as his first car. I imagined the front wings being different - more squared off.

The headlight lips give the impression of a squarer front profile. It might have been this bonnet feature which you remember as square

I remember them as being very square, nothing like the curvature there.
They flapped about a lot too, may have been something to do with the generous rust on it.

Rust was part of the standard factory fitments. Put them near salted water or heavy industrial pollution and you could just about see them fall apart

One of my neighbours had a brand new Delta or Gamma - always going wrong.

Loved Lancia Fulvias - very fond memories of a rally prepared one in the late 1970's. Worked on a stock car with a Lancia twin cam in it. Worked on a Viva HA van with a Lancia twin cam in it. All of them "fast" with a big grin factor.
