Re: Electric heater matrix C5 wiring
There is no electrical connection to the heater 'Matrix' - are you referring to the passenger compartment air heating resistance module, shown as part (4)? The car heater 'matrix' supplies hot coolant for the main heating of the interior of the vehicle.
The Air Heating Resistance (4) is a supplementary air heating resistor to help with rapid demisting / defrosting of the windscreen on cold days and to help warm up the cabin until the engine gets to temperature.
If not this, then perhaps you can advise of what the issue is?

Re: Electric heater matrix C5 wiring
Disconnect the connector (Heater element) .
Unclip the connector (Heater element) at "a".
Remove:
Refit:
Reconnect the connector (Heater element).
Have a look at my X7 Pollen Filter replacement guide, where you will see how to remove the passenger side footwell trim to get to it here:
viewtopic.php?t=56904
There is a picture (J7 & J8) that show this., but it may help with seeing where the trim clips are...
As for the wiring:
The passenger air heater element contains 3 resistive elements.
The resistive elements are Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) elements.
When it is commanded, the current passes through the resistance and causes heat to be released.
There is a black 4 way connector.
Pin 1: PTC 1 control
Pin 2: PTC 2 control
Pin 3: PTC 3 control
Pin 4: Earth
Unclip the connector (Heater element) at "a".
Remove:
- The earth bolt (3)
- The (1) bolt
Refit:
- The cabin air heating element (2)
- The (1) bolt
- The earth bolt (3)
Reconnect the connector (Heater element).
