C5X7 bluetooth module wiring

This is most likely an old question, but I have failed to get a good answer on it.

I have a 2009 C5X7 with an RD4 radio.

Dk reg. frame nr. VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
I have access to a similar car with same radio, and the bluetooth module installed. No SOS box installed.
However my car is missing the cable harness to the module.
Microphone cable is present, and that is what tricked me to believe bluetooth could be retrofitted.

I know the software on BSI, display aso. is preprogrammed to the module, Since I can activate it via lexia.
I can also get the menus up in the display, however pixelated since the module is not physically present.

Does anyone have the correct wiring diagram/schematic for the interface between radio, bsi, display and bluetooth box?

My plan is to try and scavenge the cable harness from the donor car. So it would be very helpful to see where to separate the wirings.

I am aware that the general consensus is that it can't be done, due to the complex nature of the wiring looms, so to speak.

But is it really that bad, if I have a compatible donor car at hand?

I live in Denmark, and RD45 units, navigation systems aso. are sold as if made of gold at the scrappers

There are 2 systems here which may be confusing you.....

There was the standard RD4 with no bluetooth. As an option, a hands-free Bluetooth Nomad kit could be fitted to provide the Bluetooth functionality and pass this to the Head unit.
Later on, the RD45 system came out that looks identical, but has the bluetooth module integrated into the head unit, so no need for an additional interface module.

The RD45 needed a compatible mutifunction display screen to work as this needs configuring via Diagbox.

As for the Microphones, although these are fitted as standard, the connections vary as some will go top the connecting box via the loom, others go to the services module (where fitted) or independent telematic unit again, where fitted.

There is little chance you will get the microphone sorted if retrofitting - because these tend to get integrated into the appropriate looms and disappear. Most retro fits that I know people have done, generally involve connecting up the microphone directly requiring some wiring work.

The wiring diagrams are also not as simple as that - as they are dependent upon build date and options fitted - so I can't make a diagram fit what you want to do. I could only get one with an RD45 unit fitted and you would have to work it out from that.

I've put many of the hardware codes on the old Wiki, (https://frenchcarforum.co.uk/wiki/Elect ... ring_Codes) but not the wiring codes.

A couple to start you off:

8482 : radio telephone microphone
7215 : / multifunction screen
8492 : hands-free kit
8482 : radio telephone microphone
8410 : audio system /

I can see why people call it impossible

One sticks out.

8499

It connects to AUX 1 left and right on back of the radio. But what is it?

When looking at the nomad module, the module only connects to radio with one channel from the nomad, which is then divided to radio left and right channel on AUX 1. Meaning only mono sound?

According to the diagram, it only works in mono. Is that true?


Is the module 8499 a separate module for stereo transfer to the radio?
Or is it just a RCA connector for AUX plug in?

If it turns out the Nomad can only send bluetooth in mono, I need to look for another solution.
But nice to know the facts

They are for the AUX Sockets (8499: external audio input block) that is not installed in your car. Ignore them. They are usually installed in the glovebox when fitted and are for Audio and / or Video according to telematics system fitted.

8492 is the Hands Free Kit - and that connects to the Head Unit via the following wires:

8462: audio + hands-free kit
8463: audio - hands-free kit

But don't forget you have CAN BUS wiring here which is used to communicate with the other ECUs on the vehicle via the BSI.
9024E: comfort data high CAN bus
9025E: comfort data low CAN bus

i have tried to disect the wiring and schematics.

Known connections:

Pin 4 = 9024E = CAN HIGH. Can be conencted to pin A 10 on radio // Bus, so connection is parallel with BSI and Display according to diagram.
Pin 6 = 9025E = CAN LOW. Can be connected to pin A 13 on radio

Pin 8 = 8463 = Pin B 11 on radio = Audio ground AUX 1

Pin 9 = 8462 = 8462A and 8462B = Pin B 4 and Pin B 10 = Aux 1 Right and left.
// one channel goes to both channels on AUX 1 on radio = mono from bluetooth?

CAN is only for control. No speak or music data to my know knowledge?

Pin 10 = MB492 = ground connection

Pin 17 = 8488 = microphone
Pin 18 = 8487 = microphone

Does the nomad require additional power? Not sure if the CAN is use as supply.
No power supply cable is show in the schematic.

So the questions to ask is:

Is the nomad only mono?

Does it require additional supply?

This is the pin out I have on the Nomad Hands Free unit - although it shows CAN+ on pin 1, both diagrams show nothing for this Pin - so may not be there.

Seems there is an error in the schematic. Wouldn't be the first time.
Can be +Vcc on pin 1. I have to check on the donor car.

But the pinout indicates that the Nomad does not support stereo streaming from phone.
