Adaptive Cruise control firmwear update

Post by lazerspike »

Hello everyone,
I new to this group so please don't laugh if I'm asking a silly question.
I have a 2018 Citroen spacetourer flair which was suppose to be a upgrade from my older Picassio C4 which was top of the range
and came with adaptive Cruise control.
Now the problem I have is that the model I have does have cruise control but it is not adaptive. As far as I can tell it seems to have all the hardwear
in place to have adaptive cruise. I wondering if anyone out there know if this is something that can be fixed with a firmwear update.
I found out that the Touch Model comes with adaptive cruise control, If a softwear update is possible does anyone know where I can find the download file
and how to install it?
I look forward to your replies

Regards

No, nothing to do with firmware updates.

The earlier vehicles used a radar system for the adaptive cruise, but the Spacetourer, like most newer vehicles uses a multifunction camera for the distance alert / speed limiter / lane departure / collision avoidance etc.

It's not something you can practically or economically retrofit as the system is integrated, has different wiring harnesses, and potentially a different electrical architecture so may have a different BSI.

Hi,

I’m new to this forum and I’m looking to buy a new Citroën C5 aircross, launched recently in India. However a bunch of features which come with the car in European markets like; Adaptive Cruise control, Lane Assist, Collision warning and intervention, ACC with stop & go.

My experience with VW has been a lot of aftermarket OEM retrofits which are available as kits (including ECUs, wiring harness, switches etc). Is there someone who sells such kits/knows where I can source parts who can help. I would also need guidance on tools that might be required for this.

You just need to chose the correct trim level. Cruise control is available for the C5 Aircross in India along with lane keeping assistance and most other features apart from the Emergency SOS system - which may be due to infrastructure issues.

Hi Marc,
The highest trim in India comes with cruise control. I was looking at getting “adaptive” cruise which I believe works with a camera behind the IVRM. This doesn’t seem to be available with any of the trims in india.

It might be worth checking what vehicle 'assistance' devices are legal in India first. If (for example) adaptive cruise control is not permitted in India you will not be able to buy a new vehicle with it, and you could get into trouble with the authorities should you succeed in adding it to a vehicle.

Hi Pranay -as the primary purpose is for main roads and motorways that rely on lane markings as well as other factors, it is probably not available because of the type of roads in India and may lead to accidents or malfunction - so they probably omitted it for this reason. All the vehicle systems and options are heavily integrated into the vehicle's electronic architecture so can't be retrofitted using any aftermarket options.

Can a radar be retrofit and activated on the C4 GP 2015?

Not really - these are only factory -fit options for the reasons I stated already. The ARTIV system (Inter-Vehicle Distance Function) is integrated into the vehicle wiring loom which you won't have requiring calibration and programming

I have opened the front bumper grill where radar is supposed to be installed and i can see that preparation is already done, wires and connector are already there.

Installation position must be exact , then there is the programming of the BSI and ARTI calibration procedure (calibration involves driving on a motorway for at least an hour whilst checking live Diagbox parameters). My Citroen tech once spent 2+ hours trying to calibrate a vehicle with already factory fitted because it was slightly out of alignment.

Best of luck with the procedure, and I suspect you will also need to have online access to PSA servers for Diagbox with the latest version to programme.
