Sounds lovely Timmo, both our go to coffee and cake stops down at the coast at Craster and Cresswell have shut until they are given the green light again.

Nothing to do with bikes but here's Craster on another day!

having Always lived close to the sea, its the one thing i miss the most when 'inland', a lung full of fresh sea air is good enough to clear the heaviest of woes! one of my favorite aromas is that of freshly drying seaweed on the rocks as the tide drops on a summers morning!
one thing the good lady and i used to do would be meet up down at Godrevy, we would leave at the same time, she would take the car and i would ride, loop of the woods, climb out to 'Hells Mouth' and coastal path out to Godrevy, find the good lady in the carpark (Large grassy fields overlooking the bay), have a cuppa (portable stove) and head back home in the car,

Lovely That has made me so envious...

I long to see the sea and breathe that wonderful air again... It must have been five years now...

The downside of living in the middle of the country, almost as far from the sea as you can get...

This year I fully intend to, as soon as lockdown is over

Jim, I lived with my mum for a while when she lived in the centre of Devon, it was pretty much as quick for me to Drive back 'home' than it was to get to the sea from hers! Whilst I lived the quiet, I missed the sea So badly!
Was though, the first time I had knowledgingly seen a deer in the wild, lept over the path I was riding through a wooded area on the edge of the village! I dutifully crashed in amazement!

Lovely day = 32 miles

So far on this route I've had 2 deer bounce over the track in front of me (if there'd been a 3rd it would have hit me probably) and also saw a white owl hunting parallel to me as I cycled along the road - no head cam unfortunately

No doubt it isn't pronounced "Hoe-tun" as I would for Houghton-le-spring.

On a somewhat oblique note Neil, I used to give my eldest daughter a lift home form Houghton, when she worked in the library there.
It was one of the first places in the area, apart from Sunderland Civic Center, that installed charging points for electric vehicles. Not sure when that would be but I would guess at least ten years ago and probably more.

Looks like there was a "charge-your-car" charging post originally. Now there has been this rapid charger recently installed in the Station Road Car Park behind the Library. Useful to know if we stray across the water

I saw on Strava Richard, that one looked very good indeed Yesterday's roads looked like Zwift had suddenly become real, more cyclists than cars on the roads!
