Ah silence...
All back together, now quiet, ABS still in order. Dislodged the shaft a bit and about an egg cup full of oil dribbled out, not going to worry about that, fingers crossed the seal doesn't leak now. Still got to change the oil and refit the under tray, tomorrow maybe, as it's tipping down here today!

Numbers fascinate me, especially where coincidences occur....
I recently got a new (virtual) work phone number which ends 4251
I recently got a new password to access a document management system which ends 4251
So that's a bit of a conicidence. But....
What are the odds of that??? [At least 1,000,000 : 1, possibly a lot more if you consider the odds of the bike being 4251!!]

Like it, I think number noticers on the forum are expanding! Join in with the monthly random odometer thread otherwise known as "how many miles in the month" as the numbers on your fleet tick over to the random product of all the previous months milage on the last day of the month.
....and that decides it for me I'm going to put our Citrojim on 1234 likes right now!

I wrote some longer odds about 2 x 4 digit numbers, then realised I was wrong. Having 2 x 4 digits nos the same is only 1:9999. Having 2 the same as some something you already have is longer: 1:9999 x 1:9999 = 1:999,998,001. Which is quite long!RichardW wrote: 21 Oct 2020, 08:00

Finally got round to changing the oil on the 3008 - it's only been whinging about it for about 8 months
In that time mind you it has done <1000 miles, and more than half that was one weekend when my Sister borrowed it! C4 is also whining about wanting a service - the other week it was 3 weeks or 3000 miles, but now we have got to the date it is 0 miles and 1 week, and the SERVICE light is on, job for next weekend. It's only 3 years old, but no doubt the undertray will never have been off and will put up a fight

I'm down to 12 monthly oil changes in all my and my daughter's cars now... None of them do the mileage any more... In fact, after 12 months the oil still looks golden with just a hint of black...
Given the cost of oil these days it's a good job it does not need doing that often but then again, I believe it shows just how good modern oils now are

So how much mileage are you doing these days ? I know you used to do about 60 miles a day ? We were down to nearly nothing during the lockdown but since August we've been back at the regular 38 miles a day. Finally got around to taking the 3008 for a Covid delayed MOT - which it failed on rear brake balance. Not surprising since it has hardly been used, and the rear discs were looking ropey. Advisory that all the pads were only just a pass, and the discs were about done - so it being dark wet and cold I had the lot changed, plus the track rod ends on the front as one had play. As this has the discs with the integrated bearings on the back, they're not cheap (£200 the pair...) so there wasn't a huge amount of change out of £800

On the way up there the blower decided it wasn't going to work... There's been a leak from the rear screen somewhere, and with it not being used, it's damp inside, so I assumed some damp had got in it. I got it stripped out, it's above the throttle pedal so not too bad, the throttle pedal does need to be removed to get to one of the screws, and there's one against the bulkhead you can only feel. A bit of a twiddle, and away it went, so I took in the house overnight to dry out, reassembled this afternoon (it was much easier once I found my flexible drive screwdriver with the right size torx bit!), and it's seems to be fine. I like free fixes, but I dislike the contorsionism in the driver's footwell!!

I've got some black RTV silicone (left over from sump sealing on the previous C4 Pic!!) so used this - as the car's very dark grey, it's hardly visible unless you know where to look. I got fed up of the C4 nagging about a service it doesn't really need, so I reset the indicator - I've got the oil, just need to get the other stuff and I'll get on it sometime, it's only done about 8 out of 16k, so it can wait a bit.

Now it's defrosted, clear that the water is still getting in to the Pug. Took the trim off round the window inside, but it doesn't reveal much. It might be the brake light, but very difficult to see - I might need to get a borescope. Couldn't see how to the get the brake light out - there are 2 obvious bolts, but as I was undoing them they seemed to be springing back so gave up. However looking at a 2nd hand one on ebay, these are the bolts, so I'll have another go. Supposed to rain tomorrow, so maybe I can see something then.
