Berlingo Fuses - Looking for ignition switched.

HI Guys

New to Berlingos and trying to do something simple. I'm hardwiring a dash cam into a 2015 SWB Berlingo 1.6 Petrol. The fuse box (in the glove box) is not that easily accessible but the glove box area of the dash is easy to remove so thats a bonus.

Anyway i'm trying to find an ignition switched fuse - one that doesnt stay live when the key is taken out for a specific period of time.. does such a thing exist? Its driving me nuts - the accessory socket is dead with ignition off as is the stereo - but the fuses are live.. I assume there is a body control computer somewhere dealing with the power to these and shutting them down on key off but the power to the fuses remains on..

Any help please? - I then have to do the same thing in a scudo which I'm assuming will be equally frustrating!

Hi Steve.

That's because of Economy mode and to be honest - you are better off with a switched fuse - as if you forget to switch the camera off every time (like I did) you can end up with a flat battery very rapidly.

Pop your VIN up here (auto masked from public view) so I can see exactly which fuse you'll need on your specific Berlingo. A piggy back fuse is ideal for these.

Thanks for the response. OK so I was a bit short on detail - I have a viofo A119V3 with hardwire kit. The kit has ground, 12+ permanent and also 12+ Switched feed. The camera recognises the ingition being switched on and off via the kit and when off it goes into parking mode where it records 5 fps into its buffer (not on the card) until it detects a bump - it then records the previous 15 seconds and the next 30 seconds on to the card.

So I have my negative - easy
I have my +12v battery - tee'd off pin 16 on the OBD socket
and i'm looking for the elusive ignition switched but not BSI switched fuse to provide the camera with the ignition on signal. I'm thinking (although too late as I have cut the cables) i'd be better off tee'ing into the accessory socket cabling! I am using a mini fuse tap to get the power from the fuse box hence my enquiry trying to find this mystery fuse

Unfortunately the data I have does not list this model in any detail.

The handbook would indicate electric windows using fuse F5 (30A) in the glovebox Fusebox attached to the BSI. That should be an ignition switched circuit (with a 30 second timed function after ignition off).

Thanks Marc - its an aussie model so maybe a bit light on details for you in blighty..

It appears that most of the fuses remain live after ignition off.. but the ones I have tested are not 30 seconds.. they seem live for a lot longer.. i will try the windows though as i havent tried that yet!

Yes there are so many of these models: passenger / commercial designations and options that some of the electrical details are are conspicuous by their absence!

Radio (if conventional type) will also have Gnd, perm live and IGNsw live.

Yes it is.. unfortunately its switched after the fuse box (like most seem to be).. so remains live for an unspecified period of time and no doubt goes into economy when live. The only way of using the aux socket is by tapping into it near the socket post fuse and BMI

Why cant things like this be easy any more

well I checked the window fuse etc.. and nothing.. It looks like the fuse box remains live to all fuses and the control on / off is driven by the BMI upstream of the Fuses. I think i'll be teeing into the +12v to the accessory socket near the socket and running the cable back.. unless anyone has any bright ideas or even better a wiring diagram to see if I can pull the accessory socket feed from closer to the fuse box.

Using the accessory (incendiary) socket sounds a straightforward idea, and what I would do.
Add a smaller inline fuse, if needed. Your owner's handbook will tell you what size of fuse protects the power socket(s).

No need for a larger fuse as i'll tap straight from the +ve line to the acc socket. I'll fuse the line to the camera supply though - a 3a should be more than sufficient.

I'm also seeing if I can find a wiring diagram in case I can tap the switched live feed closer to the fuse box..

OK So where would I find a wiring diagram - looking for fuse box - BSI area to see if there are any outputs to the radio or acc socket (I guess there must be as they go into eco mode too)

Yes these are BSI controlled, so there is usually a third wire. After a certain time or when the energy management determines, they are switched off.
