One for the cat lovers. I was watching the one playing on the bonnet then the other one popped up from under the wing.

Did some burning off yesterday. Conditions are perfect at the moment, since it's winter.
And here's the result this morning - not as complete a burn as I'd hoped.
Cheers
Alec

You don't want to start that - you know what happened last time

Another one in the "just missed it collection". To be fair Kingfishers appear all of a sudden in a literal blue flash and zoom off, and had the camera been ready all that I would have got would have been a blurry blue dot.
Did manage to capture this stationary BSA 650

In the same vein as your Kingfisher Neil here is my attempt to photograph the RAF's stealth bomber:

I thought that you would have had enough conflagrations in Australia to last a lifetime.

There's one, possibly two, Kingfishers at work - I've never even bothered to get the camera out for them.... everyone just has to take my word for the fact they frequent the placeNewcastleFalcon wrote: 30 Jun 2020, 17:46 Another one in the "just missed it collection". I did see seven, possibly eight, Egrets this morning - three hunched on a tree a fair distance away, then another one flew towards them, then two more, then another, and another - though one of those may have done a 'go around' and was practising circuits and bumps

Another bit of joyous bird photography. It is a Meadow Pipit and a Cuckoo. The comments make good reading too..

For the named brick connoisseur this is a shelter at Beamish Museum

Well out on a dogwalk today I came across these. Well I know plenty about the Cowen Brick Probably the Best Brick in the World, but need to find out about the Lily brick. Well as it turns out Cowen made Lily Bricks a high quality Building Brick too from his Lilley Drift Mine and Brickworks at Rowlands Gill and High Spen.

My wife's family come from Hetton le Hole where the miners cottages came from in the colliery at Beamish. Her mother was raised in one similar as part of quite a large family, how they managed I don't know, they were 'cosy' to say the least.

Here's a brick for you Peter, and an interesting account of Hetton-le-Hole much better than the wiki article.Peter.N. wrote: 01 Jul 2020, 17:06 My wife's family come from Hetton le Hole where the miners cottages came from in the colliery at Beamish. The Hetton Lyons name is still preserved in the School and the Local Football team.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Thanks for that Neil, very interesting and comprehensive. We went to have a look but it had all been rebuilt probably in the '50s or '60s.
My wife's family have George Stevenson in their genealogy somewhere.

Here's a nice shiny mini, absolutely tiny when you see it on the road these days, but the lights are a touch OTT for my liking. Thought it might be a one of 35 Grand Prix special edition seeing as it was reg in August 1994 but its not...just an ordinary Rover Mini Cooper!
