There are also a fair number of cars on the bottom of those frozen lakes.
They use them as skidpans but there is always one who does it too near the melt.

My son has just bought a new (to him) Kawasaki. Wonder if it has one of those strapped to it.

For his sake I hope not!! Alan is a brilliant engineer and I think you need his level of expertise to deal with a beast like that!!

Re: Unusual/Interesting Engines
Gibbo posted up a video on a car which purports to run on salt water, a bit of discusssion followed which is probably better captured on this thread.
Well they have a website.....
MIck chipped in with a bit of further finding out
All news on it seems a bit old. Nano Flowcell the start up behind unveiled its Quant e-Sport Limousine as per gibbo's video in 2014, and in 2015 they unveiled a City Car version the Quantino.
Has a major automaker bought its propulsion concept yet? Not that I have heard. What are Nanoflowcell doing right now?Top Gear actually had a test drive in their "City Car"
Story here http://www.bbc.com/autos/story/20161010 ... sports-car
Last word on that article was
"On the Quantino's future
NanoFlowcell is adamant they are a tech company, not a carmaker. And the Quantino, and its 920bhp super-limo sister, the Quant e-Sportlimousine, are merely demonstrators of the tech. Both have been road legalised, but will never be sold. Instead, la Vecchia tells us that the company is in talks with a major automaker to sell its propulsion concept on in 2017."
Well they have a website.....
They do quote from Mark Twainhttps://www.nanoflowcell.com/

Re: Unusual/Interesting Engines
That Top Gear write up appears to confirm my suggestion of a multi hose fill up but they go with the vapourizer idea I suggested rather than the drain and recycle plan. Either way if they have sold the idea to a major car maker the chances are it will be lost to us until they have exhausted their stocks and parts for ICE cars. Can't let innovation and progress interfere with profit making now can we?

Re: Unusual/Interesting Engines
Come on Mick, that's just the old conspiracy story recycled, back in the fifties it was "They've made a rubber for tyres that don't wear out but the tyre companies have hidden it." and "They've invented a car that runs on water but the oil companies have hidden it."mickthemaverick wrote: 16 Aug 2020, 18:28 That Top Gear write up appears to confirm my suggestion of a multi hose fill up but they go with the vapourizer idea I suggested rather than the drain and recycle plan. If such things had been true there would be someone who would have produced it and made a killing, and sod the consequences.

Re: Unusual/Interesting Engines
Just read right through the nanoflow website and found it quite interesting. If it's genuine then I would love to go and see their operation with a view to shareholding as on the face of it they offer a far more practicle solution to electric car transport. Any body else interested enough to join me if I can arrange a visit?

There is a car that runs on water! Haven't you seen the film "Black Moon Rising"?

Re: Unusual/Interesting Engines
That certainly doesn't embellish the subject. However it doesn't repudiate it entirely either!! I shall have words with my son-in-law who is a materials engineer working in Germany and get his view and report back!!Gibbo2286 wrote: 16 Aug 2020, 18:57 Take another point of view.![]()
