Re: Ds3 apple carplay
As far as I can tell you need a later unit for this function (SMEG+i V2).
Put up your Firmware and software version info from the unit.

Re: Ds3 apple carplay
Ok, so there are a few updates to newer firmware available for your system. But is would suggest you get the dealer to do the updates from their servers for you, as they may also need to enable it using Diagbox. Some of these can only be updated directly from the servers.
If you don’t let the dealer update it, you will likely find certain functions will be missing or not working, because the system needs recalibration and the correct options restored after the latest firmware is applied.

Johntom, how did you get on with the dealer, my wife’s DS3 2015 has the software embedded I think, needs activation by the dealer.

Hi Chris
Did you manage to get your wife’s 2015 DS3 enabled for Apple CarPlay. I have the same on my 2015 DS3 but so far all dealers I have spoken to won’t or don’t know how to do it. Any advice from anyone who know who can activate this for me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Pete

Re: Ds3 apple carplay
It will be a software update that the dealer performs - they will download it form their servers and check your configuration parameters afterwards. That's why there is a diagnostic charge of abut £90 which equates to about an hour.

Re: Ds3 apple carplay
I would love to pay someone to activat Carplay for me, so far I have been frustrated. I have contacted 5 dealers, and explained to them that I have the SMEGiv2. But none of them will even attempt to try and enable it for me.
I have been given the following reasons:
1. You don’t have the correct hardware.
2. It is not an option on your vehicle (based on VIN)
3. Citroen can’t touch it, it needs to be done by a DS dealer,
4. Your model does not have an Apple Carplay license.
One dealer said his understanding is that although I have the correct hardware.. Apple Carplay can only be activated on certain models as an extra feature. And my Car is not one of these.
Can anyone help or direct me to someone who can?
Many Thanks
Pete

Re: Ds3 apple carplay
DavieS3 - pop your VIN up so I can see what unit you have. But from the software version I think it is compatible. The only way to get it available on the system is a dealer download as mentioned earlier. PSA dealers initially had a USB they could order whilst they were completing the web links for the electronic download of the required update files.
This is no longer available as they should be able to download and activate the functionality automatically from their servers. I think it is more likely a case of 'reluctance' and lack of knowledge from many dealers as to how and what they have to do to enable it, so many fob people off. There are exceptions of course, where the very early units were not compatible, so this may be true in those cases.
