not sure of the History of this one, but IIRC its close to Lochearnhead. This photo dates from about 2006, but I think I recall noticing that it was un-changed when I was up there last year.

Re: Garages Gallery-Ancient and Modern
This is the last place I worked at before I left Brum in the 1960s although this picture was taken some time later. The pumps when I was there were the old tall ones selling gallons, about seven of them including five star petrol and Esso Blue paraffin.

Whenever I see garages like that, I always wonder just how long it would take me to fill them with interesting bits of engineeringPug_XUD_KeenAmateur wrote: 15 Dec 2019, 10:58 not sure of the History of this one, but IIRC its close to Lochearnhead. I've seen the 'EW Griffiths" Garage at Llanrug, and am fairly sure I've posted a similar picture here to the one the Beeb have used... could even be mine, but am not gonna scour my Archives to be sure

Re: Garages Gallery-Ancient and Modern
I do like an old garage, and this is a striking one. Surely none of the pumps are working but the price on the board isnt as out of date as I would have expected. In some ways it is refreshing to see what appears to be a dilapidated garage on a big site without having already been converted into some anonymous residential development, or being fenced off with for sale notices up for a development site.
No doubt there is a story why this has not happened, as a petrol and service station site its had its day. Looks like it could well be residential with the garage but no outward signs of inhabitation.
Regards Neil

I only stopped for a quick picture as we were running a bit behind schedule so this time it looks like I missed out on a decent mooch around.

Re: Garages Gallery-Ancient and Modern
This was my local garage in the '50's, new them quite well. Jack Kemsley used to do the Monte Carlo rally every year.
There is https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/4844 ... lls-plug/a good video on youtube about the Maidstone Rootes garage.
My wife worked for a Rootes garage in Sevenoaks in the '60's.
