Re: Xsara Picasso Electric Sunroof.....
Thanks for that , not sure its helped
......
should there be a some sort of hole or aperture near the motor in the roof lining to open and close the roof manually ? as there is not one on the car or do you gently pull the headlining down ?

Re: Xsara Picasso Electric Sunroof.....
No, not from either the manual or the documentation I have.
The system does have an antipinch function that needs reinitialising if the battery has been disconnected.
There should be 2 settings - 1 quick press to the comfort position, second quick press - to maximum opening. To reinitialise, after roof has closed, hold button in the closed position for a second or two and release.
But if the glass is not opening or closing, then it's possible the drive cables have snapped
Replacement is possible, but involves taking the headlining off, the interior blind trim, drilling out the rivets and replacing the cables.....
They do a cable set - item (12) in the second diagram I posted that contains the complete cables at 'G', 'H' & 'I'. Part number 8401TR and the price is £177.07 inc. VAT from Citroen.
If you want to attempt this, let me know and I can put up a guide, but I'll need the VIN as there are several types of roof systems used and I was referring to an Exclusive as an example above.

Thanks for your reply , Iam pretty sure the cables are ok as you can see part of the mechanism moving backwards and forwards on both sides , the whole system appears to work fine like you say it does 2 settings which work fine the only thing that does not happen is the roof does not open .....

Re: Xsara Picasso Electric Sunroof.....
It may depend on where the wire (s) are broken - if they are broken, as the motor reducer may still retract and spool the wires out - it may be that the break is where you can't see it.
The only other issues I'm aware of is that the runners can get dry and this can cause additional strain on the system - some good silicone spray along the length of the runners will ensure less strain on the motor. So you have nothing to lose I would suggest at this point.

Re: Xsara Picasso Electric Sunroof.....
That's the problem - it's not a common operation and if you take it to a third party garage they may be guessing, break it or worse and it will be more costly to repair....
The parts are not a service item and would generally be ordered on demand, so you won't find these easily from a third party seller - or a dealer selling off old parts as it's not a stock item.
Official labour time is listed as 3 hours to replace the cables.... if that is the issue. Do you have your VIN, because as I say there are 2 types - one with 2 glass panels and one with a panoramic roof type. They are different so I need to ascertain which one you have.

Re: Xsara Picasso Electric Sunroof.....
Ok, so confirmed the parts and the previous diagrams I posted are correct. At least I have the VIN in case of future queries.
