I know you'll all be delighted to know I have a collection of my building photos which are out of the ordinary but I promise to limit myself to three if the theme takes off :-D
I have always been intrigued by the unusual rather than the architecturally sublime which tend to get the prizes.

You had better get your number 2 out Mick....

In the meantime here's Cockfosters water tower, should you ever go to sleep on the Piccadily Line and have a few minutes to take a selfie next to the nearest Hyperboloid Structure.

Are you sure that's not left over from the War of the Worlds Neil? :)

My second offering is this rather unusual "freestanding" clock tower. Anyone recognise it?

Indeed it could......, but its not. I know the Warboys tower quite well as one of my old workmate's parents used to live on Wistow Fen which is about 3 miles north of Warboys on the road to Ramsay. However my tower is further north than that in a holiday resort. The picture was taken while having lunch in a fish and chip shop! :)

Back to the drawing board then...just been on a bit of a tangent having read that the Warboys church organ was built by Harrison and Harrison at Durham. Not sure if they are still going....at one time every little church in the country had a manual pipe organ, some of them quite magnificent. I still have one of my Dad's many CD's of organ music in the car he loved it.

Anyway you probably have given enough clues to find your clock. Fish and Chips at the Seaside North...Whitby Steve's old stomping ground is probably the most famous fish and chip resort north of Watford!, but theres Great Yarmouth, Skegness, Scarborough before you get that far North :-D

Hope it wasn't "too bracing" for your fish and chips Mick!

Looks like you're flushed with success there Neil, though I have to say I'm being thick regarding your "too bracing" suggestion, or is that a reference to that part of the world's weather? :) EDIT - I just checked back and clicked on the link - I like it!!

I too used to have an organ CD in the car but it was, sadly, one of the six I lost when I forgot to empty the multi-changer before parting with my Prius.....yes I did say that!! :-D

The Magpie may be famous - it just had a mention on an American forum.
Despite the fact that my aunt worked there, they are not the best.
Fuscoe's Royal Fisheries were better and are next door to the house I was born in.
Best was one on The Parade and owned by my mate's brother. Long gone, as is he.

I only had F&C once in Whitby and that was from the shop on the road along the estuary bank, possibly Church Road or Church Street? Very tasty indeed but not quite as nice as the shop on the seafront in Redcar visited during my ICI project. The fish from there was so fresh I'll swear it was still flapping in the paper!! I can confirm that the offering in the tower town was nowhere near as nice although edible, but it was cheap!! Lunch with tea and B&B for 2 of us came to just over £11.00 which would only buy it for one in Hertford!!

To wrap up my posting for this evening here is the third picture of unusual buildings. I like this one because it shows 3 different materials blended to give a single attractive building which can be found on a preservation railway:

Worth mentioning Rawtenstall has cropped up on the forum before, being a former stomping ground of FCF member Michel!

As I'm from Rawtenstall/Rossendale I remember these still being in service in that very livery when I was a nipper.

10 points if you can work out where these came from. The only clues you get are that they were all from the same structure, and it was last standing 31 years ago :)
