Nice bit of Photography Bobins re Gold Beach.

Virtually flicking through CarandDriver, came across news of the Car Transporter Golden Ray on its side off the coast of Georgia USA....reminded me of this from the POTD archives....
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 19 Jul 2019, 10:35 It was one of the "Hoegh" fleet. The coast programme showed them parking up the cars in the ship to get the maximum number in. Quite a manual effort, and parked within an inch or two of each other.

There is another large car transport ship on its side off the coast of Georgia USA right now.
This report is a little behind events, all crew members have been located and one remains to be rescued according to a later report on the BBC website.

I know it is not car related, but I saw this little water vole on the River Kennet, somewhere in Berkshire;

Excellent Picture James. A very rare sight these days. Big re-introduction project going on at Kielder, but from my youth they were a common sight on all rivers. A small river, aka "the Beck", ran next to my school and water rats as we used to call them were all over it.

I took my Australia visitors to the Puzzlewood and on the trails there we saw many so very tiny water voles running in and out of the various springs that are in the woods.

POTD Natural History Club

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

Continuing the natural history theme.

I present a small tortoiseshell on buddlia flowers.
NF own work
NF own work
..and a bit of tortoise related car trivia

"The marque's badge was unusual in featuring a tortoise — a pet tortoise walked into the frame of an inaugural photo-shoot, taken in the grounds of the makers. Because of the irony (the slowness of tortoises) the animal was chosen as the emblem. "

So whats the name of the car maker?
