Thanks Marc
so it is an adaptive ECU, will think for itself ( ok can of worms open ) within given parameters
So taking Peter as an example, defensive driving whilst still keeping up with traffic will have no detrimental effect on when the regeneration takes place.
So you can get 60+ mpg and still let the system regenerate as and when needed ?
** Defensive driving is something i was taught way back in the early 80's and not a new fashion even then.
Work the £ figures out at say £5 a gallon
200 miles @ 40 mpg x £5 = £25
200 miles @ 60 mpg x £5 = £16.6
200 miles a week @40 mpg x 4 x 12 = £ 1200
200 miles a week @60 mpg x 4 x 12 =£ 796.8
Saving of approx £403 over a year
Wish there was something decent on tv my brain is getting over worked lol

The antidote is shoving a picture up on POTD, new contributors always welcome. Gibbo has put up a picture of his plums today to entertain the assembled throng. I'm sure you have something to offer

That would have sparked some action had Malcolm still been with us. ↑

Re: Does anyone run a C5 X7 diesel estate?
Looks like I have my first problem. Changed the engine oil today and noticed that there is oil around the steering rack, not a tremendous amount but it does look as though its coming from the rack. There doesn't appear to be a reservoir for the fluid, or at least I can't find it. Help.

If the rack has been replaced within the last year then it could just be the pipe seals that have gone.

I hate to be the one to tell you - but it looks like yours has succumbed to the dreaded legendary steering rack failure Peter.

That is it then, I thought that was something to do with the water, it has a pipe going to the header tank. What fluid does it use?
Thanks. Peter
Probably why it was cheap Marc.

LDS Fluid - the same as if you had a hydraulically suspended C5

It'll also take Fluide DA - in fact it's supposed to take Fluide DA, but as they're the same - either will do

You cannot see the "normal" rack problem from below or the sides, you can only see the spread of oil.
To get a good look, go in via the steering column in the footwell.

Thanks for your comments, what sort of a job is changing it? I can see its not very easy to get at.
Thought I might have had some LDS from my early C5's but no such luck, did find 4 or 5 bottles of LHM+ if anyone wants it, but will have to collect it if you are down this way. I have ordered some LDS now, bit cheaper than Eolys!
