Megane 1.6i CC mystery pipe

Can someone tell me the purpose of the arrowed pipe in the photo. It comes round the front of the battery and ends as in the pic. It is a friend's car so I have no manual etc.. Click on pic to zoom for a full view.

I think this a battery gas vent pipe. Probably should go somewhere though rather than just flapping round the engine bay!

Unfortunately, I don't know where it should go.

It just looks like a bit of sleeving Mick.

Venting pipes for batteries are usually only where they are stored inside a vehicle like the Xsara Picasso.

Thanks for the ideas, I may have to trace it back and see what it is connected to, if I find out I'll post the answer. Other suggestions are still welcome :? :?
