The closest I have come to the convertible, cabriolet, drop-top, décapotable experience in a car of my ownership was having the windows rolled down and the webasto sunroof fully open in my Triumph GT6.

I'm in dangerous territory now......hankering after the sort of idyllic portrayal of open top motoring as in my avatar, and being drawn to such things in the classic auction catalogues, but probably realistically thinking that its going to be totally impractical and just a touch too draughty! Thats proper DMC thinking!

I mean I even thought about this....right colour....didn't sell at the last sale, in at this one for the same guide price, and a decent chance of getting it under guide......we'll see what it went for early next week over on the Classics under £10k thread.

Spotted by my dashcam on the way to Tesco's this morning. Nice to see it being used rather than on display at a show!!



I had the saloon as my first ever car, yumped it at a hump back bridge as a learner and it was condemned as rotten throughout at the MOT 2 days later!! Another close call, hee hee! VYV 333 - wish I'd kept that number but of course you couldn't in those days!!

My mum bought one like that new in 1963, only in white. I had one of the series 2 Oxfords with the wooden body, never see them now.

Never saw an Isis estate, quite a few saloons though. Several differences between that and the Oxford apart from the 6 cyl engine, it had worm and nut steering as opposed to the rack and pinion, albeit with a leaning steering column.

Yes probably It had a steering box as opposed to a rack and pinion. Recirculating ball was I believe another type.

Rootes used recirculating ball steering boxes on the 1960s Minx models, an earlier box they used was very heavy to turn and dumped due to complaints.
