Hi and welcome. For the MK II C5, there was only one part for the under bonnet engine fusebox and that is 6500CK. They do not need coding, so as long as it is this part number you will be ok.

It doesn't matter diesel of petrol - the 6500CK was used across all C5 MK II models. The BSI is another matter - that has to be correct, but the engine fusebox will be fine as I said before - it doesn't need programming.

Does it have to come off c5 or can it come off other makes and models as looks like cross Citroen and peugeot ... what’s the difference with codes 6500ck and my model number 9658539480 and with other numbers... I don’t want to order one that doesn’t work

Yes you can use anyone from the PSA range with part number 6500CK. This number is the PSA (Citroen, Peugeot, DS) part number. The 9658539480 number is the international part number. As long as the part has either of these numbers it will be fine from any PSA marque.

Confusingly the Citroen part no doesn't appear on the box - the number on the box (9658539480) is the maker's number, and is best to go by for 2nd hand units.

Richard w ...Citroen garage said 6500ck is part no. At nearly £300 ...hence why question as I can’t find a L04-00fuse box with 9658539480 or matching S number (see pic) . I can find 6500ck’s or with long number with 1or2 digits different but have same fuse & socket configuration !!! So your saying don’t buy anything without same number then?

Let’s clear up the confusion:

If you are buying direct from Citroen, use the 6500CK number.
If you are buying second hand from the internet, make sure you have the matching 9658539480 number on the unit label. Ignore the other numbers. You can search using 6500CK, but make sure when you locate units to buy, that it has the same number as 9658539480. That’s all you need to know.

As long as it is marked 65001CK or the equivalent long number I quoted above. The Engine Fuse boxes are specific to the vehicle and fitting an incorrect one can cause problems or potential damage. They may look the same but the model number is very specific to the correct vehicles they are designed for.
