I didnt think we had any of these bottle kiln things in Northumberland. Fairly commonplace in the Potteries.

But apparently there are a pair of them and a Chimney at Corbridge
There's a gallery on geograph of such things Page 1 covers basically "the Potteries" plus a singleton from Norfolk. Page 2 covers the rest of the UK.....is there one near you that you maybe like me never noticed it was there
Regards Neil

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
More huge kites
A bit too far away with standard lens.
I spotted it when I was much closer, heading out for a walk, but the camera wouldn't work - I had left it switched on
Then realised it turns itself off after five minutes.
Got those on the way home but too knackered to get any closer.
It is a huge octopus, quite brightly coloured

Whilst out and about today, came across this. It's either located in what was the second worst - or second best - place to be in the UK in the event of World War 3

Just to extract the maximum possible amusement from your POTD submission Bobins, I turned it into a wheresthisthen? And have failed.
With the reference to worst/best places to be in the event of ww3..thought this may help but no...

Well - it ain't in West Sussex ! It's a bit north west from here. It'd have been very VERY high* on the list of primary targets

* High, but not the highest

Oh No!
Its happened and I've only just had it realised it. I know I have been photographing bricks and postboxes recently, so I may just have joined "The dull men's club" without knowing it.....they even have T-shirts

Thanks Peter. Jim from his karate activity did come up with this FCF coloured belt classification...
Regards NeilCitroJim wrote: 01 Dec 2016, 04:49Definitely Neil... Consider yourself an orange beltNewcastleFalcon wrote: PS.. and just for the record...that was my 3000 th post to FCF.....do I get a virtual "orange" belt for that landmark?!![]()
That tallies nicely with karate gradingNever knew that about an orange...
So.. Blue for 1000 Posts, red for 2000 Posts, orange for 3000, yellow for 4000, green for 5000, purple for 6000, Purple and white for 7000, brown for 8000, brown and red for 9000 and for 10,000 black (Shodan) !!!
That makes me a Sandan...

To mark heading into the 7,000's as far as locomotive pictures go we are in Hymek territory Class 35.
Now if Jim logs in and views this POTD he will be well pleased. Wiki has nicely provided an image of a West Country Trio. Along with the Hymek D7018, we have a Warship and a Western
LOvely stuff, if like me you like a drop of railway nostalgia

Jim's been in the Resistor drawer again, judging by those colours.
