It was white outside when I woke up, I thought we had more snow, but just a very heavy frost. Still a little snow left though, and quite a lot of cherry tree.

A lovely 746

It reminds me... Much military and government grade electronics back in the good old days was wired with pink wires only and tracing them could be fun... The better stuff did at least have identifiers at ach end of a wire but that did not always help when faced with a big loom composed entirely of many identical pink wires...
Not that much different to a 90s Citroen wiring loom really

OK if they are not fixed down tight, you can pull one and see which one moves the other end.

Once, in my late teens, I put together a piece of kit, and decided "for neatness' sake" to do it all in thin grey wire. When it came to testing . . .
. . . Never again made that mistake!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
My brother-in-law worked fr BT for some time, lookimg after several exchanges full of Strowger ekectro-mechanical equipment. Each of these were multi-floor buildings, full of gear. After it finally went digital, the buildings were almost empty, except for the new kit in a small part of one floor, which did it all, and was "serviced" from a single PC.
Another memory was of West Sussex County Council, where in the early '80s we replaced old bell-type internal phones in schools with new phones and PABX exchange switchboards. The phones themselves were brand new push-button Trimphones (not the dial type, which fell over when you dialled!), bought by the thousand from BT for just £1 each. Our own school took best part of a hundred of them, all in two-tone green.

Wouldn't suit me I'm colour blind. I wonder how I lasted in electronics for 50 years.

That brings back some very happy memories
It's snowed here this morning
I so love running in virgin snow and took full advantage of it

No worries about slipping in the fresh stuff, the danger comes later when hundreds of feet have compressed it and turned it to ice... No chance of running on it then...
Absolutely magical - a winter wonderland

Excellent POTD's Jim! Well worth a "like" from me!
WE had a relatively mild night last night compared to the day before. How do I know that? There was water coming out of the tap this morning!

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Not too far removed from the toilets on Käringön, Sweden.
They were a lidded container that could be sealed.
No vehicles on the island other than a tractor and trailer that collected all the tubs weekly and took them to a ferry for treatment on the mainland.
One week, the trailer tipped up and the tubs spilled off, loosing their lids and contents.
Lots of the residents left the island for a couple of weeks at that point.
