Psa were fine with derv engines while they did it alone.. look at the 2.0 8v engine and the Xud engine too..

The bolt didnt strip threads it snapped clean on the lower side of the bolt on the head side.. no stripped threads or anything

It would interesting to see whether the current DV6C motor has had issues such as this addressed, especially seeing as in many respects it has been completely redesigned, moving to 8 valves from the 16 of the DV6Ted4, and so forth.

The answer is stick with the 8 valve engine, if you can afford a 16 valve you've got to much money. :wink:

Not neccesary Peter, Id BE CAREFULL where you place that comment!

The Later PSA 2.0 16v engines have so far proved VERY WELL over the DV6 engine. It seems to be the joint venture engine thats the fall down.

I had a look at an 8v 1.6 HDi in a brand new mini, but didn;t go as far to see how the injectors were secured in place. Ill have a look again when I get the chance. What I did note was the engine was simmilar in lay out, but not massivly different.. Turbo is still in the same place, but the fuel filter has moved from above the gearbox on the end of the head to the cam belt side area, and easilly accessable over the 16v version, that said, I saw a glimpse of a 16v 1.6 in a focus, and theres NO air intake pipes or anything obscuring the fuel filter or engine. Deafentaly designed to go ina more spacious Ford engine bay rather then a compact Citroen engine bay...

Any way, Im rambling, Ill have a look at a 2.0 16v again next time and see what the injector fixing is like.

The 2.0 16v is no worse then the Good Ole 8v engine too..

Old topic, but I think it still is every day thing. What about aluminium sylinder head, if bolt thread is strong, but sylinder head thread i giving up and what about if there is small cap on injector bolts between sylinder head and valve cover and valve cover is giving up when thightening nuts.

I have C4 1.6 Hdi 2009 200 000 km and cylinder 4 injector is leaking slightly. I am second owner from 140 000 km.
I renewed 4th cylinder copper seal and I noticed that the injecteor nuts had been thighten imbalanced.
Is it possible that PSA engine factory is making mistake balancing the injector clamb band wrong ( 10 ), so that it is not in balance and the injector is leaning slightly ?
If you are thightening the band when it is not in balance, you easely snap the bolt.

I have bought all the seals and the studs ready to do my daughters 207 but the stud issue is causing me some worries. Doing lots of reading before I start, as you do, and I have found a few horror stories of the studs snapping in the head when you try to remove them. Are these studs a bit of a problem to remove or are the stories just one offs and I shouldn't be worrying?

Studs are steel and sylinder head is aluminium, so these bolt are stuck, so better ask some specialist firm, that can they do it and at the same time
lining the head.

Quite useful information, Bob - thanks! While I don't have a French car, I have one of the concerned engines. ;/ In the end I did change all bolts when replacing the seals. Unfortunately the diesel high pressure pipes are now leaking a little bit - I guess without luck those are - as the bolts - parts to only tighten once...

Does anyone happen to know the proper torque for those/the new ones I bought? I found 20Nm in a torque list for the engine but the designation there is not that unambiguous.

If anyone has to change the pipes as well... the Supplier P/Ns are DELPHI HPP262 and HPP261. A least here those were a bit less pricey than from CITROËN/PEUGEOT/Ford/Volvo.

Which engine code do you have? There are several variants of the 1.6, so would need to know to get the torque settings.

I have 7.5 Nm and remember to tightens the bolt at the same spanner level. The copper seal is expanding
because of heat so when the engine is running the bolt torque rises to ~10 Nm.
Pipes you have to renew !

It's the Volvo "1.6D"/4164T from 2009 (107.5 bhp/80 kW, EURO4) and should be identical to the 1.6 TDCI of Ford used in the Focus Mk2 respectively Peugeot's HDI FAP 110.

Yes, I made that experience now - just to make sure I don't kill the new ones with the first tightening I wanted to be sure for the torque for those.

I would be aware that different manufacturers implement different injection systems to the same / similar engines, so caution is advised when ordering parts and I suggest that you always ensure the correct part numbers are used.

In this case, concerning injection, you mentioned Delphi parts - yet the PSA 110 DV6TED4 engines I have looked at this morning have Bosch injection systems. Manufacturers also make different decisions on the type of injection they use (Piezo / Solenoid) which of course has cost considerations.

The Delphi system is of course used on several other engines in the PSA range, but concerning their DV4TED engine specifically, that is a 1.4 HDi.

So as far as the tightening torque information below is concerned, this is specifically for the PSA DV6TED4 110 80KW Euro 4 engine:
