In itself it is a work of art the product of pencil and paper and the hand of Francois Roussel. 62 drawings of classic cars, mostly French of the 60's and 70's in the ligne clair style, as featured in "Drawing of the Month" in Gazoline Magazine the leading French vintage car magazine.

Must be some decent books to put in the PE Library over the Christmas season.
Like this one. On the shelves of Barter books, and picked out for me because I like a bit of art the classics...(yes...paintings and drawings of old vehicles).
Never heard of this artist before, but the cover and the first illustration instantly appealed, and I know I will enjoy the whole book full of superb roadscapes and classic lorries.
The Illustrations are the work of Alan Spillett.

I am in the "arms not long enough" and "floodlighting required" stage for reading too much printed material.
Theres plenty of interest in the written bits of that "Roadscapes" book, but the images are superb. The "Blue Circle" and Salkeld Brothers Fodens used to power up and down the road at the end of our street as a boy, in their yellow and red livery respectively, and their shiny chrome wheel trims. So a bit of nostalgia leaping out from the pages for me as well.
Like many a haulier Moreton C. Cullimore started out with a Model T Ford in the Stroud area of the Cotswolds in the 1930s but here, in the 1960s, one of his sizable fleet of Foden tippers threads its careful way though a Gloucester village while in the background a Midland Red single decker approaches its bus stop.
Now the "Bears Head" in the background looks very similar to the Bears Head in Brereton many miles away in Cheshire! Maybe the spiky church is from Gloucestershire! Can't see one in Brereton

Can I suggest we add "Tales from The White Hart", by Arthur C Clarke? It is full of short but amusing stories (some of which are Sci Fi based), but a few could be prophetic (such as "The Man who Ploughed the Sea").

Came across this interesting Blog post related to the Lowther Hills in the Scottish Borders home to the "Golf Ball" Radar station subject of today's POTD.

Not a U-boat, but the mildly alarming SS Richard Montgomery which still has around 1400 tonnes of bang on board and is sitting in the Thames Estuary. Mrs Bobins used to work for the company that does the sonar surveys on the Richard Montgomery. Here's a fairly recent survey image of it in all its glorious detail:
