Cheers Jim

Went to my local Evans Halshaw with a list of various parts but only managed to order the locking ring for the fuel tank (Citroen 153120)
Pnoned Nicki @ Automec (01280 822818) to place my order (D = 186mm CU45/CU45 on HCP045) for the damaged pipe (Citroen 5270S9 Hydraulic tube 4.5mm 186mm) ....

Meantime I'll carry on with some puddle cleaning / pipe removal and brake lube ....

I identified the wrong pipe mainly due to the vast amount of pipes and lack of detail on Safety Valve diagram ....so the lower pipe is the one I need not the one I ordered - I realised too late to cancel the order, so I'll have to bite the bullet and re-order the longer pipe that goes to the rear anti sink valve.

(Citroen hydraulic tube 5270 V2 3.5mm 3875mm)

Automec D = 3875 CU35 / CU35 on HCP035

I did consider a patch and or inline connector to repair but the problem is the cut in the pipe is too close to the end union to allow a connector, I could also try re-routing the pipe in a more direct route but I don't have a flaring tool and the last I saw they were @ £200!!

My interpretation of Safety Valve connections

Whilst digging around underneath I discovered part of the pipe tray has been ripped off [-X and also the 'stainless steel' exhaust :^o appears to have rusted through

OK I've almost finished running the new pipe from the rear anti-sink valve to the safety valve .... VERY sloooowww going and then I've had to divert out of the pipe tray as there was no way I could get the pipe through the last bit of the front of the pipe tray because this new pipe already has the union on it #-o and there isn't a lot of choice other than dropping the front sub-frame or

I contemplated cutting the new pipe and running it from the other end (which may still happen) and joining in the tray but have ended up running it through a gap in the sub-frame just to the edge of the pipe tray as pictured .....
Pipe diversion

New pipe just visible hanging under engine bay
New pipe just visible hanging under engine bay
I'm sure if I had a pipe flarer I could run the copper pipe through it's proper route as it's fairly flexible even in the tight front sub-frame area where the tray is sandwiched between the sub-frame and under body. So frustrating that this has made me stumble and divert the pipe but it's now through the worst areas and tomorrow weather permitting I should be able to join it to the safety valve and try to pressurize the system to see where we go from here .....

Weekend spent static running and she's trying to pressurize but she's very thirsty and has already drank 3 Litres of LHM+ whilst slowly performing Citrobotics ....every now and then there's a jerk twitch or a jolt from the suspension and I'm guessing this is the air being purged from the suspension circuit :?:

She awaiting a re-supply of LHM+ and so far she's only wept a bit of LHM from NSF Suspension leg low pressure return connector clipped to the leg ...monitoring. Once I've got some more LHM+ I will start bleeding the brakes.......

Looking for mid and rear exhausts but might be able to try a bodge initially for MoT attempt ....

Have to say. Loving this.

Reading with great excitement!

I love and hate cars, but unearthing a rare beast and nursing it back into existence brings me round.

Good work, but an obvious length of garden hose might attract a bit of attention from a Tester. Something black might be more discrete and professional looking. Just a small thing.

Chris

Totally agree and although it doesn't look professional I'm going to leave it there for now as it's surprisingly secure wedged in the gap between the heat shield and underbody ....

So with the exception of a little low pressure weep on the NSF suspension leg return line she is holding pressure.....before I run the engine too much I thought I'd investigate the service history .....the last stamp in the handbook is 22 NOV 05 @ 41,762 and all the invoices I have are mainly suspension and brake work so no evidence of timing belt being changed.

The auxillary belt looks like this
AUXILIARY BELT
AUXILIARY BELT
AUXILIARY BELT
AUXILIARY BELT
That would seem a pretty good indicator that the belt history isn't up to date so I am attempting to change the belts got as far as getting the cambelt covers off and trying to lock them 'in time' but they are not lining up ....

Is this severe or minor timing error :?:
CRANK PINNED 8mm
CRANK PINNED 8mm
CAM TIMING HOLES OFF
CAM TIMING HOLES OFF
I presume this could have jumped a tooth or 2 and simple needs timing correctly with a new belt, is there an easy way to measure the error that's there at the moment :?: Does it really matter anyway as long as I get the timing right on assembly :?:

I can't really comment whether this has affected the performance/economy as I have yet to drive the car ....

Skull... NEVER, EVER trust the timing hole in the crank pulley on an Activa!!! They are NOT accurate on a used pulley...

Being a dual-mass the outer annulus - where the timing hole is - moves relative to the inner annulus over time...

I used to have a solid pulley from a Pug 205 I used for timing purposes...

Unless anyone has a solid pulley that they could loan me or an alternative method I will have a search ....maybe a parts supplier would be an option and return it 'unused'

I found this website that suggests interchangeable parts against the Activa RGX engine code:
https://www.proxyparts.com/wiki/engine- ... el/xantia/
https://WWW.PROXYPARTS.COM
https://WWW.PROXYPARTS.COM
A search of their used parts turned up one pulley off a Citroen Evasion:

PULLEY
Citroen Evasion crank pulley
Citroen Evasion crank pulley
Not sure if that is a solid one or not though looking at the back of the pulley (Maybe Jim could confirm ?)
