I think i maybe able to take the car somewhere tomorrow, fingers crossed, that has a vacuum gauge that maybe able to test the vacuum pipes, but i have no idea of what the values should be lol
Any help greatly appreciated no mad rush, not going to take car in till tomorrow afternoon

I can't copy the diagrams/pics but here's the text of the test.

Check : Air supply circuit
B1HD2HP0 Check : Air supply circuit
ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations.
2. Check
2.1. vacuum pump

Connect the tool [ 1] to the vacuum pump (1).
Start the engine.
Wait 30 seconds.
The vacuum value should be 0,9 ± 0,1 bar at idle speed.
N.B. : The exhaust gas recycling valve is not linked to the air supply circuit . The exhaust gas recycling electrovalve is controlled by the engine ECU.

2.2. Turbocharger wastegate valve
Connect the tool [ 1] to the valve (2) (pipe with grey mark).
Apply a vacuum of approximately 0,8 bar The shaft "a" should move by 12 ± 2 mm.

And for driving test of turbo...

1. Preparation
ESSENTIAL : Observe the following checking conditions : Engine at operating temperature. Vehicle in working order. Engine full load.
Connect the diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s diagnostic socket : Measure the parameters.
2. Method of operation
Start the engine.
Engage the 1st gear ratio, and start the vehicle.
Engage the gears up to 3rd gear.
Decelerate to an engine speed of 1000 rpm.
Check the pressure (1500 rpm) : 0.6 ± 0.05 bar.
Accelerate hard : (change from 4th gear to 3rd gear).
Check the pressure (between 2500 and 3500 rpm) : 0.9 ± 0.05 bar.

I believe there is also a boost control valve which turns the electrical signal into a vacuum signal, and they can get sticky, or the filter in the atmosphere port of that valve can get blocked. A lack of vacuum could also cause a loss of boost.

That's the electrovalve I said was at the back of the engine, Colin. I think others have said it's easier to access from under the car than above.

A video on what it looks like and how to service it (albeit on a non-PSA vehicle I think). Mark which hose goes to which port as you don't want them transposed on refitting.

Quick update
Did not manage to get to the garage this afternoon, car has finally thrown its toys out of the pram and is now parked in the drive with a gallon of petrol and a match for company :(

It is like riding a bucking bronco, 1 min it will rev to past 3.5k in 1/2/3 but then just goes flat, then it revs then it doesn't, pulling away at a roundabout was slipping the clutch hope it revved and the gap was big enough to get a fleet of double deckers out.
Off to look at a cheap runaround tonight so i can get to work and back whilst i contemplate whether or not to strike the match

Timely servicing is important due to fine tolerances of modern engines. For instance, what effect do you think a blocked air, fuel or oil filter might have on turbo boost?
Sorry - I've had PC problems (fried GPU) , so been on and off the Forum whilst I've secured another one and all the potching about - so missed this post Mike.

If the match hasn't been lit yet, I will see what I have. This being the DV6TED4 110 with DPF.

i'll pray for you after going( on going still ) on a magical mystery hunt....save a match for me

i WILL find time to take another look at mine, 5 cars on the drive is 1 too many although we all know that the perfect number for anything is n + 1 right? :-D
currently '06 C5 2.0 HDi auto estate Tip run and France trekker - well should be!! occupied currently by '10 Superb DSG 170 elegance- whistles and bells that work

Just a thought, disconnect the doser pipe, you wan't have filtered intake....but, better than the match option. It will run as flat as.. but it will be smooth and will cuise at 60, it will chuck loads of faults on diag, and it will smoke black when booted, then work backwards

Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone

Blimey Colin, that's terrible.
PM sent.

No worries Marc. IME, power cuts and brown outs too frequently co-incide with damaged electronics

Can you check the injector clamps? Is there any movement, even the tiniest in the injector(s), along with carbon build up at the base? Did it ever go for the recall for the turbo oil supply pipe? The recall was to remove 1 of the 2 gauzes.

Ok so here is what I have for the P0299 Error:
Fault codeP0299
After sales description of the fault codeTurbocharger pressure signal: Pressure too low in relation to the reference value
Description of the diagnosticsDifference negative for 5 seconds, between the turbo pressure reference and the measured turbo pressure: The pressure measured is lower than the reference, around 300 mbars for an engine speed above 2500 rpm
Conditions of activation of the diagnosticsConsult the associated contexts for the Pcode forwarding conditions
In particle filter regeneration with engine speed above 1800 rpm
Not in particle filter regeneration with engine speed under 1500 rpm
Conditions of disappearance of the faultDriving for 5 min with several full load accelerations for 10 seconds
Down-grade modes if fault presentUse of the flow calculated
Cutting of the EGR butterfly (turbo air cooler), EGR valve and bypass butterfly (inlet air heater) in all operating modes
Cutting of cruise control
Change to "easy move" torque invalid (Deactivation of automatic mode for the electronic parking brake)
Switching on of the warning lamp and/or warning message-
Main customer complaints likelyLack of power
Noise
Smoke from the exhaust
Suspect areasAir meter restricted
Clogged air filter
Obstacle obstructing the air passage
Air lock between compressor and engine Turbocharging pressure sensor
Turbocharger position copy sensor
Vacuum problem
Variable geometry of the turbocharger jammed in the "minimum turbo" position
Faulty turbocharger
As far as testing goes, you'll need some testing tools, the live data and a diagnostic additional cable as follows:

Tools:
Mike Turbo A.PNG
Mike Turbo B.PNG
[1]pressure gauge for checking the turbocharging pressure (-).1604.A.[2] Tool for checking inlet air pressure-vacuum (-).0171.G2.
Check
Mike Turbo C.PNG
Mike Turbo D.PNG
Disconnect the connector (at "a") (if necessary).
Remove:
  • The (1) bolt
  • The turbocharging pressure sensor (2)
Connect:
  • Tool [2a] in place of the turbocharging pressure sensor (2); Tighten the bolt (1)
  • The turbocharging pressure sensor (2) on tool [2b] ; Tighten the bolt (3)
  • The tool [1] on the tool [2]
  • Connect the connector (at "a").
  • Connect the diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s diagnostic socket.
  • Place the diagnostic tool in parameter measures.
  • Start the engine.
Engine speed (rpm)Turbocharger pressure ( bar)
25000,2 ± 0,1
40000,7 ± 0,1
N.B. :If there is a significant difference in the pressure read on the diagnostic tool and on the pressure gauge, replace the turbocharging pressure sensor.

If the pressure taken in the circuit is lower than the value given, check the following components:
  • The turbocharger air inlet and outlet ducts
  • The turbocharging air cooler inlet and outlet air ducts
  • The turbocharging air cooler
  • The turbocharger
If the pressure taken in the circuit (maximum 1 bar) is higher than the value given, check the turbocharger regulation system.

Sorry for the late reply, had to go to work today
The injectors have been checked, no movement and no carbon build up at the base. As for the recall i really have no idea, we bought the car in 2011 from a main stealer ( could use other words but...) and have no paperwork to suggest yes or no.
