Bit of disruption on the Great Western Railway

One of these high-speed Class 802 train's was on a test run around 10pm Tuesday, running from London to Bristol depot when it ripped into the overhead wires, bringing them down.

Ahh well, it's a message not to get rid of the HSTs on the GWR...

Last time I travelled to Somerset by train I rode a Class 800 to Swindon and hated the bloody horrible thing... On my way home I rode an HST from Westbury to Paddington and the difference was unbelievable... The little Class 156 I the rode from Swindon to Frome was much nicer!

The HST is by far the better train... Despite being well over 40 years old it rides better, is more comfy and much roomier and airier....

And it sounds lovely

These new Hitatchi trains are not proving very popular... The North Pole is the best place for the horrid things...

Just in case 2 POTD's dont constitute a "flurry" here's another. The scene constantly changes character with the lighting. I had hoped to catch "Scott's View" in a blaze of fiery Autumn colours from the trees flanking the banks of the Tweed, but the lighting wasn't right for that. What we did have was a dramatic brooding sky over the Eildon Hills with shafts of light illuminating certain parts of the view.

Worth a few clicks of the shutter any time of the day/ year.

This is what happens every year with my old neighbours two trees, nobody is prepared to help themselves to a few very good apples, they lie here and rot or the sheep get in and clear them up.

We have a huge Bramley tree but we have to pick the apples to give away! The grandkids help.

I reckon you could get a quite a few of trailer loads of excess apples/pears/plums from any community, you certainly could from our little corner of Northumberland. Community juicing or maybe cider making has not yet taken off, although many years ago I rememberJack Hargreaves and his cronies probably down Hampshire/Dorset way doing a bit of communal pressing at harvest time

Watched the video quite recently on dailymotion which has a lot of his old programmes on it.
