Egr valve common problem best take it off and check it.

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
early day for a change so here goes....spanners out
turns out this pipe has been added and was connected to small alloy pipe at rear of rocker cover

it terminates at front of engine, the horizontal one from the right

A B and C are original pipes
C pushes onto a valve/thingy just above and right which leaves A and B?
A i'm assuming is the one that runs to Vac pump to provide vacuum?
which leaves A and B, are they connected together normally?
and now for the 'piece de resistance'....

inlet is just as bad
i dont want to break any more vac pipes so have had to give it a spray and quick clean in situ as best as i can.
is this the temp sensor?

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
back together for now, No EML light on or 'pollution' warning but definite lack of boost, driveable but might struggle to get out of Dieppe
looks like a Lexia session (picking one up tomorrow) and see what that brings then presumably EGR clean up time assuming the soot levels/DPF/eolys are OK + whatever else it throws up

Oh wow! that's horrendous!
It might even be worse than mine was.
Yes, that sorry looking thing dangling in the path of the air is the manifold temp sensor. You'll also notice another sensor slightly further back; this is the manifold pressure sensor. Perhaps this is blocked with crap.... certainly won't be helping the boost situation.
This thread documents my efforts to clean the inlet tract: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=60717

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
On you're second photo showing A, B and C, I take it that they refer to the yellow traced pipes? If that's the case, C on mine goes into something, behind, to the right and up a bit also. A would be the one that is similarly routed with a cable tie next the oil filler ( first pic) then goes back and C goes down to the vacuum solenoids mounted on top of the AC compressor. Good luck tomorrow an actuator test will show whether the previous repair was done well. While you're in the actuator test check the turbo vacuum, it's below the other three.

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
If that’s the state of Inlet very likely to be EGR valve. I would take off and check done a few last one rattled about when I took it off so wasn’t working at all .

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
looking back at the diagrams earlier in the thread, am i right in thinking that the pipe marked C in my 2nd pic goes to the Vac reserve thats under the inlet piece? if so should there be a second pipe also?
pipe B on that pic runs to AC compressor?
pipe A is the original pipe that was bypassed which i've now reconnected at one end, rear engine area across the back

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
All I can say is..C for goes into a rubber pipe, hidden, (not taking the bits off before a trip to Wales next week) B doesn't run to the AC compressor, but runs to the vacuum solenoids above it. You can see one that is is red on your pic on the previous page.A goes to the back via the clip on the oil filler. Actuator test will tell all.

We have the parts drawings above, but how about service manual EGR etc schematic for the system?

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
Ok, you never did get your VIN to me - and there were 2 layouts to the piping depending on build date for the 2.0 138, so I'll need that before proceeding.old'uns wrote: 14 Sep 2018, 19:55 looking back at the diagrams earlier in the thread, am i right in thinking that the pipe marked C in my 2nd pic goes to the Vac reserve thats under the inlet piece? if so should there be a second pipe also?

sorry marc, i thought i had at some point previously
VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]**************[VIN obfuscated]
i know the RPO is on the sticker but is it 4 or 5 from the following?
10803CJ
10427
EZRC**
0803?
sorry to be a pain but just picked up a Lexia, connected to car but then asks to activate it (using F2 or F3 with RRDI codes). i'm sure from before you bypass this but i can't for the life of me remember how?

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
Yes, 10803 is your RPO.
RRDI or Customer code is the dealers D number, only needed for registration of software, unless you have a dealer RRDI number then you can use "other" functions.
Is it due to design (my inlet/doser is a different layout) or something else going on?
I recently pulled my temp and pressure sensors to give them a clean and saw zero EGR soot, just a film of oil from turbo and/or breather.

Agreed, it's disgusting and would certainly benefit from a blast of cleaner.EDC5 wrote: 14 Sep 2018, 17:12old'uns wrote: 14 Sep 2018, 13:49

Re: 'HDi's for Dummies' diagrams?
inlet doser is a Y shape with 2 butterflies, i wouldn't be surprised if the whole engine is like this....
regarding the RPO i've tried all combinations and still get the error message about activation
