I think there's plenty of room Jim, it's a full size football pitch, I took the photo from my bedroom window with a 20x zoom, I guess that accounts for the tight fit look.
Tried to catch it again on take off but mis-timed it. It was sitting there for about half an hour, I expect we'll hear why shortly.

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
A few from a very lovely bike ride this afternoon. Gorgeous day so I took a 25 mile detour from work back to home!
On my way...
Remaining snow!
In two places it was almost across the road still and narrowing it to a single file... Amazing given how mild it has been since Sunday...
A crashed car on a treacherous corner with adverse camber....
Evidence of many previous mishaps on this particular corner!
I also spotted a milk churn stand with a traffic cone on the top of it but could not easily stop to snap a shot of it..
Spring is not far off - the sun has warmth in it now

Down South they are probably out already, but points for the first original POTD shot of daffodils!
The snowdrop, and to a lesser extent the odd crocus blooming up here!

Saw loads of snowdrops in a garden near my youngest daughter's house.
I have a few miserable looking crocus and the snow killed off the snapdragons that were in bloom.

I put my my tomato plants out in the conservatory on Monday, 30c+ during the day - but still only about 5c at night. It was only the frost that killed last years plants, was still picking a few until then. Its good living here - but expensive.

A couple from work this morning.
Daffodils and attack hound.

Bobins. that's the perfect set of pictures to look at early in the morning.. They brought a smile to my face! Thanks
I'd say they acted as a good start to my day but that already started with a 5K run and a 1.2K swim!!!
That's put me in a good mood already...

My day started rather well, I was down feeding the swans by the lake when the kingfisher flew by me and made its first appearance of the season

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
Definitely springtime down here
And the light mornings and evenings are helping morale so much now
Peter, those pictures are gorgeous
The top one especially as I love woodland and run a parkrun most Saturdays in Linford Wood, a bit of ancient woodland almost in the middle of Milton Keynes...
Zel also walks his dog there - but not at the same time as we run!
It is so magical to see the wood at all times of the year and at all seasons... It's just now beginning to awake from its winter slumbers
Once the bluebells are out it'll look like a wonderland...
The first flowers that I usually notice blooming in the wood are what looks to me like wild primroses. I'm not good with flowers so I may have that wrong...
Whatever, they are pretty little things...

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
Our woodland has been ruined since some dolt decided to dump wild boar in there and they've taken over despite the Forestry Commission's best efforts to cull them to a reasonable level.
There's hardly a grass verge or open space that hasn't been ploughed up by the damned beasts and dog walkers are getting more and more reluctant to enter the places that they've used for years.

That's a bloody shame

The only reasonable level for the wild boar population is zero...
Our wood is maintained to a very high standard by the Parks Trust and forms part of the extensive parkland in Milton Keynes...
http://www.theparkstrust.com/parks/linford-wood
Our biggest problem is litter

Every now and again we parkrunners organise a litter-pick to help tidy the place up a bit but we have to risk-assess the activity and get explicit permission from the Parks Trust before we can do it!
In a way that's sensible as if we came across a used needle, say, and suffered injury - or worse - as a result then we're covered... We also have to use the correct tools and wear the correct PPE!

Re: Picture(s) of the day..
Just hope that the 'Friends of the boar' don't come your way Jim, that's what I believe happened here, they were deliberately dumped to repopulate the forestbut the boar lovers have forgotten that it was royal hunting ground before.
Can't hunt them anymore and even attempts to control the numbers by culling brings out the 'Hunt sabs'
The count has gone from a dozen or so at the start to four hundred then on to twelve hundred then on to too many to count, the Forestry Commission try to bring it down to four hundred but get cries of anger every time they try to do so.
Sorry this is from the Daily Mail but it paints a clear enough picture:

I'm a country boy born and bred Gibbo and understand these things better than the so-called hunt sabs...
Don't get me started. I have very strong views and those views do not accord with those of the sabs and tree-huggers in general...
I'll say no more but I think you can deduce fairly easily which side of the fence I sit on

A bit of 'stick-art' spotted whilst setting out and marshalling the Linford Wood parkrun course this morning...
It made me smile
