Can get easily 60+ over the weekend but over 5000 miles its a different game

Not quite 5K miiles showing but this is average I seem to get regardless. Mostly urban/rural and short journeys, as seen by the very low average MPH. And this is with the wasted fuel of the compulsory afterburners every 300km.

Same here, have seen over 67mpg on shorter average distances.

I reset that counter as it was mostly previous owner's miles and thought I could do even better what with the maintenance work I put into it.
Unfortunately for various reasons, the car's now only mostly doing short trips for Mum to shops and hospital appointments and I think it's currently at 3300 with an average of 52mpg odd so that plan didn't work but it does re-inforce my belief that no matter how it's driven, I just can't get it below 50.

As above, it was previous owner so no idea how that came about. Ave speed is much higher since I reset it though mpg is lower. Weird.

Perhaps the trip calculators are zero-able separately? On XM, a trip reset zeros everything, but that's antique now!

Yes, there's three individual counters on the display - one live and two resetable accumulators. I reset the first accumulator on each refill to get a short-term average of miles per £ and it's on this one I see the much higher average mpg initially.

Here we go:

50% city driving, very short journeys and stop start, the other 50% long motorway drives to and from uni hence the average speed of 29 mph.

C5 2.0 140 with the AM6 auto box.

Pretty good I think all things considered, but this cold weather and possibly winter diesel is hampering economy currently, only got 48mpg on my last motorway run compared to 55mpg or so.

...but average was 47mpg over the course of just over 74k, purchase May 2011, to recent 255k on my Pug 405 1.9 D na estate (sheet shown is from 200k)

Might go down a touch over the winter coz its got no 'stat so often runs cool, but won't affect it greatly... lagging in the intakes is effective but not in current 'Brrr!' conditions. Might wrap the rad in tin foil or make a 'slide over metal barrier' for it soon. Mixed town, rural and motorway use at 'real world' speeds, occasionally touches a little over 80mph when occasion merits it (eg, overtaking side by side lorries on the motorway), but not often.

I've always had consumption in the low to middle 40's from all my 1.9na XUD's in 309, ZX and previous (red) 405 respectively; which included lots of London driving with the red 405 and ZX.

I note that Mum in Law's new 2011 Micra K13 1.2 petrol is average 52mpg at the mo, which frankly seems pathetic, but isn't far off official figures.

Really? For a hulking great big C5 it seems quite good to me...


I'd love to do my 5000 mile MPG but that would take me at least two years to do...

Doesn't have to be exactly 5000 - 5427 is fine. Can you get a photo of the trip computer?

I reset both with each fill-up. Normally around 500 miles and once a month.

I don't understand why you reset both at the same time. Personally I reset one every time I fill to the brim and the other one once a year as soon as possible after Jan 1st when I fill-to-the-brim. I then see how the computed MPG compares my properly worked out figures.
