Hi, had the low warning come up awhile ago and am wanting to verify which fluid to use. I have a 2006 2.2 Hdi. My research led me to believe it should be Eolys 176/ infineum, and that the filler on the tank should be green, and not white.
When I had a look the tank looked different the ones I saw online.
Here are some pics.
As you can see there is no green cap and the connectors have white clips not green as I saw elsewhere.
Just want to verify if I have the correct fluid type, please!
Thanks, Leith.

Re: C5 Eolys Question.
Even though white connectors are meant to mean dpx? The RPO is correct for 176 though. I just want to be absolutely sure!

Re: C5 Eolys Question.
Simple answer might be to use the JLM stuff, which is meant to be compatible with either system.

I've already bought the Infineum kit though.

Re: C5 Eolys Question.
Edit:
Important note about the information below:
The information was correct at the time it was posted, and technically it still is correct, but it is stressed that anyone who has the option of filling with either Infineum or Powerflex should fill with only Infineum. This is to ensure that subsequent fillings of the additive tank are only done with Infineum and that there is no possibility of traces of Powerflex in the tank being mixed with Infineum or vice versa.
If you have the option of filling with either Infineum or Powerflex and you have already refilled the additive tank with Powerflex, then you need to ensure that all subsequent refills are done with Powerflex.
End edit.
Are you sitting comfortably ? Then I shall begin........
I've edited out a couple of references which don't add anything to the understanding of what goes where, but basically this is what Cit Docbackup has to say on additives....
Begin quote:
1. The new 3rd generation particle filter additives
Factory-fitted application between RPO 12110 and 12166 (According to vehicle).
Suppliers and brands :
RHODIA : EOLYS POWERFLEX
INFINEUM : F7995
2. Previous type of additive
Additive DPX 42 is still available and must be used for all servicing on vehicles that have DPX 42.
When stocks of additive EOLYS 176 run out, it will be replaced by the 3rd generation additives.
N.B. : From 15/07/2010 onwards: Additive EOLYS 176 will no longer be available to order from Replacement Parts.
3. Compatibility between additives
Additive DPX42 cannot be mixed with any other additive.
Additive EOLYS 176 can be mixed with additives EOLYS POWERFLEX and INFINEUM F7995.
Additives EOLYS POWERFLEX and INFINEUM F7995 cannot be mixed with each other.
N.B. : As the additive concentrations between EOLYS 176 and the two new additives are identical, there is no impact on the operating calibrations of the engine ECU.
CAUTION : It is not permissible to mix additives INFINEUM F7995 and Rhodia EOLYS POWERFLEX with each other.
4. Filling or topping up with additive
4.1. Identifying the type of additive present in the vehicle
CAUTION : Prior to any operation on the additive reservoir, it is necessary to identify the type of additive present in the vehicle.
CAUTION : The only clue is the colour of the clickfit union on the filler interface..
4.2. Rules for choice of additive for after-sales operations
N.B. : These rules only concern the filling of rigid reservoirs with particle filter additive.
Conversion chart for filling or topping-up operations:
5. Identification and packaging of the particle filter additives
N.B. : For any maintenance operation requiring filling of the rigid additive reservoir, it is essential to refer to the conversion chart for the colour coding between the clickfit union on the rigid reservoir filler interface and the cap colour in the 3rd generation additive kit.
6. Recommendations/precautions
CAUTION : It is not permissible to mix additives INFINEUM F7995 and Rhodia EOLYS POWERFLEX with each other.
If the additives should be reversed, the filter becomes clogged with particles.
Use these products exclusively ; any other product causes a mmalfunction of the filtration system.
Use clean additive only as any particles risk causing the additive injector to seize.
N.B. : The soft additive pouches have a Part No. and must be replaced with respect to that Part No..
End Quote.
Does that help to muddy the waters a bit ?
cheers,
Robin

Re: C5 Eolys Question.
My guess, going only on the 'clickfit' colours, would be DPX42 as your 'clickfit' would match the colour of the cap on the new bottle of additive, but that would pay no regard to how it fits in with your RPO number.

Stephen
Need to know the RP number of the car to be sure, as it looks like they started off with 176 and then went to powerflex, which are not mixable - so you need to make sure you get the right one. Changeover day was 12166 - post up your RP no (on the tyre sticker on the A post) to confirm.
The C4 Picasso uses a flexible pouch which you are just supposed to change complete - Like this (this is for the earlier cars) I guess in principle you could refill. I expect the job is coming up on ours, as it's done 90k without refill!

Re: C5 Eolys Question.
I know this is an old topic, but I just found it, I have been successfully refilling the pouch on my c3 Picasso for some time.
There is a non return valve in the neck of the pouch, if you get a small funnel it is easy to depress the valve with the funnel stem then Just pour In the fluid. Make sure there is no air in the bag before refitting. Do not overfill the bag or it will not fit back inside the casing (ask me how I know)

Re: C5 Eolys Question.
Worth checking if you have a bag that it is OK for refill before you buy the fluid - ours had a hole in it somewhere, so would have been NBG for a refill! I got a new one for £130 of e-bay, good for longer than we will have the car, so seemed OK to me.

Re: C5 Eolys Question.
Mine had a microscopic pinhole too, repaired it with self adhesive aluminium tape. You have to make sure the bag is absolutely clean and grease free before sticking, but it’s worked.
I wonder if it would be possible to get an old intact bag and refill..
