This is released tomorrow 19th October 2017. Referred to it in POTD in response to Richard W's Holiday snap of the old Man of Hoy which Chris famously climbed "on TV in the 1960's, and then at 80 Years old a few years ago.

Re: The Pickled Egg Library
Thanks to a loan from a fellow forum member, I have just finished reading this:

It is an absolute cracker of a book, hugely enjoyable and very absorbing as well as very thought provoking...
Setright has some very strong opinions you may not always entirely agree with but his command of the language (including a bit of Latin) is something to treasure and behold...
One thing he really does clearly love is Classic Citroens
Many references are made to them - right up to the XM and ZX...
Every student of automotive history should read this, it is a must and you will learn a lot

Re: The Pickled Egg Library
Leonard Setright was quite a character. In a postscript to another of his books, James May (who worked as a young motoring reporter alongside Setright) recalls the physically fit LS's feeling about walking and outdoor life. Apparently, Setright's idea of "exercise" was standing up while smoking a Sobranie.

Sadly, it likely killed him... I believe he succumbed to cancer at the age of 74... Taken too soon

But, having said that, like Douglas Adams, he left us a magnificent literary legacy

Re: The Pickled Egg Library
It was my birthday yesterday, and my Mum bought me a nice book. I will be willing to look things up in it for people, but it might be difficult to prise it from my grasp;

Postscript books have really excelled themselves this month...
Bet that one will be flying off the shelves...
It'll make a great jokey Christmas present I reckon
It's a lot of book for just £6.99... Hardback and 160 pages

Re: The Pickled Egg Library
Is it comprehensive? I would hope these ones have been included. This picture was taken 29 years ago, but maybe the subjects a little more secretive now, or could even have disappeared from their original habitat

Nope, they've not moved an inch Neil...
They can still be spotted from the West Coast Main Line, just south of Wolverton station...
These days, they do have some relations living in the Centre:MK (Shopping centre/city centre).
I believe those may be fibreglass cows rather than being of the original concrete variety...
