When I was young it wasn't uncommon to see plates ending POO around essex, never worked out where they came from.
Up here I see GAY frequently on newer cars which surprised me as I thought it would offend some people. I live near Gaydon though so have assumed thats the region code.

As for Xantias not being dailies, I closed my eyes for that bit. Until someone markets a better, affordable car I'm a daily Xantia man. Well unless I become a wealthy man then I'm driving a Gran Sport Maserati as a daily and I'll have a fleet of classics for evenings, weekends and probably mornings. In reality I fully expect to stick to Xantias right up until we only use electric be it wise or not.

Lots of Fords had OO plates - it was a Dagenham issue.

That would explain a local mechanic's Mk3 transit (still in use for recovery/scrap collection at least last year) bearing the plate OOO ???P. Wonder how much OOP51E would be worth & what that's fitted to? :D

Jim, yes very early. DVLA have it registered August '90 and manufacture date of 1990 so within the first year of production... If I get a chance I'll give the door a tap & see what the score is with it. I have a feeling it's only recently been bought, but you never know your luck! :rofl2:

Sinker spotted at the DS Rally yesterday:
Own Work
Own Work
Only other Xantia, bar mine, was this one, an HDi...
Own Work
Own Work
Note the black trim in place of the chrome :) It's effective and looks good...

Likely only to work on a light-coloured car though...

Surprisingly, there were no XMs there yesterday but a good few BXs...

Nearly forgot this one: silver Xantia estate coming into Newton Abbot, on the Totnes road, yesterday morning.

Two of note yesterday between MK and Oxford - probably the last time I'll be out that way for a while no we've got nobody working in Oxford. Thank goodness, it's a horrible commute.

First up was an early Laguna on an M plate. Wasn't until a couple of seconds later that I had the "when did I last see one of them?" moment. In the deep maroon colour many seemed to be, and looked very tidy from the quick glance I got.

Next up was a pale blue Citroen Visa. Can't for the life of me ever remember seeing one in the wild, save for the rally car at the Goodall's Festival of Speed on a couple of occasions.

Have to wonder if the owner's on here. Didn't catch the reg sadly.
Current fleet:

Not a car but my friend the car painter is currently cleaning up and repainting a set of panels, roof, bonnet, boot, doors and wings for a DS9, he's already done the roof, the owner brought all the panels to him separately.

They were in a sad state, no rust, dents and distortions all over but when finished I guarantee they'll be better than new.

I suppose the owner could be a subscriber here. :)

The MK area probably boasts more Visas than anywhere in the country - but they all belong to 2 people, which is why you don't often see them.

Chris, that WAS you, wasn't it?

Well they better bring one (or more!) along to the Festival of the Unexceptional later this year. Great example of a car that was once a common sight, but is now basically extinct.

...Not as though that's a sort of car I seem to have a soft spot for or anything. Nor is this an attempt to get a proper up close look at a Visa, which I've never had the chance to, and feel like it's a model I really should know more about than I do, beyond that the C15 is one with a box grafted onto the back...

Most likely was - Chris was with one of his at the DS rally on Sunday...

Spotted a lovely black DS yesterday afternoon on an extended bike ride home from work in Astwood, near Bedford... It was full of some very happy people... I could tell as all the windows were wound down ;)

I do reall someone taking one in 2015 & not being allowed to enter it because it wasn't old enough.

Spotted a lovely SM out on my bike ride this afternoon... A sort of poo-brown/dark beige one heading towards Newport Pagnell near Tyringham...

Maybe it got the DSM Rally dates confused and was a week late for it....

Nothing of any real interest but I was out and about a bit yesterday evening and was struck with how many DS3s there were - I must have seen 15~20 of them.

They don't belong here but there are three on my street right now.
