My brother got a program he wrote on his ZX81 printed in Sinclair User magazine - I think he got £10 for it at the time. IIRC it was called 'Lights Out'

Lights out? This is generally what happened to my ZX81 when the rampack wobbled slightly.

The humble Herring has been mentioned no less than 17 times (...er probably 18 now) on the FCF. I don't really know what they did with them when there were 1000 boats plundering the bounty of the "silver darlings" out of Great Yarmouth alone. It must have been "Roll-mops" for tea and kippers for breakfast every day!

Herring is a very versatile fish Neil...

No doubt it was the staple diet of a lot of folk, sharing the same old traditional niche as boiled spuds and cabbage/tinned peas/carrots...

In the sort of numbers it was caught it would have been very cheap I'd expect... And for the less well-off, very nutritious. Boring in the extreme but a few herring with the aforementioned spuds and cabbage/carrots was a very bland but healthy dish and arguably far better for you than what those sort of folk eat these days... Obesity was not common in those days and nor was type 2 diabetes either...
